People always ask me, “How did you get to be a recurring cast member on The Drew Barrymore Show?”
Easy! They called me. I did one episode. Drew and the producers liked it. They called me back again. Then I did it about two dozen more times. Voila - success!
But that’s only part of the story. The real answer that I share in my “Everything is PR” keynote is that the road to The Drew Barrymore Show started many years before I ever got that call.
For over 10 years, I:
📺 Said yes to any opportunity to build my TV experience…even if it meant 5am call times, driving three hours, and even having one of my pitches ridiculed on-air by a newscaster in LA (who I will not mention)
☀️Woke up before my kids and my husband to write, research, and position myself as a thought leader in dating and relationships
🎤Launched and self-funded a podcast in 2013 before there was any money to be made in the medium
🗣️And practiced, practiced, practiced so I knew my content cold and was prepared for anything that could happen on live TV.
My last episode of Season 6 just aired today and I’m feeling so much gratitude for every person who taught me something, gave me an opportunity, recommended me, or just saw me as a human. We want shortcuts, hacks, and systems, but truly, the old fashioned way is best because manifesting your dreams is just a consistent combination of intention + action
