This one-woman show starring singer, Windy Barnes, follows the story of the fictitious character, Shady Henson, as she works the โChitlin Circuitโ from 1955 through 1980 in search of stardom. CALL FOR ARTISTS ๐ฃ : Our Civic Art Division invites artists and artist teams residing or working within the greater Los Angeles area to submit qualifications to create an artwork for the faรงade of a new parking structure in Marina del Rey. The new parking structure will be located on the corner of Mindanao Way and Admiralty Way at the entrance to Burton Chace Park, contributing a significant visual impact to the area.
In alignment with the Countyโs MdR for All initiative that seeks to ensure the harbor becomes a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable place for all residents, businesses, and visitors, we are pleased to announce this opportunity is open to artists of ALL experience levels, with no prior experience in public art required to apply.
The Civic Art Division is committed to supporting the inclusion of diverse and underrepresented artists in the Countyโs Civic Art Collection, including emerging public artists who might require additional support and professional development resources. For this project, a public art mentor will be available to provide free training and project management guidance to the commissioned artist as needed to ensure the success of the project.

Join the Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles Education Team and Artists At Work Fellow Taylor Griffith to learn about pollution. The afternoon will begin with a science lesson about pollution and the way it impacts Seals and Sea Lions. Then Taylor Griffith will lead us in a workshop to create small โlureโ sculptures which will be used in a community sculpture called โLong Linesโ. A unique cyanotype print will be made by each participant to be picked up at the show in October.
All ages welcome. Supplies will be provided.
