Mouse: P.I. for Hire Gamer Journal

I finished this one last week, but I have been getting my bearings straight post-trip.

There is so much that Mouse PI does right. More than anything, it fully leans into the noir-ness of the game. The characters talk in that detective voice under the shadows of dark street lights, you have really good jazz music, and there is a mystery to solve. Moreover, I found going through the maps to be quite fun. There’s a certain cadence the game allows you to fall into, making the gameplay feel casual as you brawl with new foes.

My biggest issue was that the loading screen took some time to complete its go through. This was particularly frustrating whenever I had to restart a boss battle.
Other than that, this is a relative shorty (15ish hours?) with a great story, amazing art and music, and a good time.

Visiting for their New Artist Rotation

After visiting last rotation, I was very excited to see what was in store this go around, especially in taking it as a sort of “scavenger hunt” looking for all my favorite fandoms.
There was plenty of Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Kirby, Legend of Zelda, and even some of Omori (my beloved iykyk)

I appreciate so much that there is a store like this where I can shop artists in a permanent store location. It made for a fun afternoon.

My Favorite Unconventional Cozy Games

I was reminiscing playing Skyrim lately, how it was a game I could unwind to, especially during grad school.
That got me thinking of other games that have allowed me to relax.

There does seem to be a lot of discourse surrounding what a “cozy” game actually is, but for this list, I used it to refer to games I can be “cozy” in. What I appreciate most about this description is that everyone can have a unique cozy game that scratches that itch for them.

What’s your favorite unconventional cozy game?

*RDD2 is not on the Switch, but I still feel it works for this list

Decorating my DS Lite Cartridge Case

I’ve been wanting a more solid place to hold my DS games, and while I don’t have that many, it is nice to have a dedicated place for my current collection now.

I’m usually so nervous about putting stickers on stuff but I wanted a custom case- I like the end result!

I definitely wanna find more DS games and keep filling this case up.

Setting up my Apple Watch, but make it Pokemon

The last time I bought a watch I was on series three. It was lagging a bit, and didn’t last the full day charging.

I got the series 11 and of course I needed to add a little touch of Pokemon. I customized the watch face to include Pikachu.

A yellow band might complete the new look but for now, my new watch is set up.

The Updated Room Tour

I took some pictures yesterday, but some video to go with it as well.

I look at my room and see how much of it was chosen with impermanence in mind. My desk and shelves are easily foldable. My wall decor is significantly less than I’ve done in the past. In general, I had to downsize a lot to keep my space feeling open.

I love my current setup, but I also chose it knowing this might not be my last move. I look forward to the moment it will be.

Do you want the house tour?

It’s been a minute since I shared my cozy space (beyond just my stories). It’s been a few months since my California move, and I definitely feel a lot more settled in to both my home and my routine.

Post-laundry days usually are the cleanest for my room, so I decided to take some pictures. I might just finally do a full tour soon.

The April Gamer Journal Spread

My game rotation worked out well as far as the matching colors. With even “dark” covers to the “light” ones, it perfectly reflected the contrast I felt between cozy gaming and playing rpgs.

I am almost done with this journal, and I’m really excited to start a new one soon. Coming soon is a tour so stay tuned for that!
