“God’s timing is everything. After years of grinding, writing, and putting in the work, I can officially say I’m a GRAMMY AWARD WINNER for writing Moonlight on Chris Brown’s 11:11, the Best R&B Album of the Year.

This moment is surreal, but it’s also well overdue. Since 2004, I’ve been moving from studio to studio, label to label, putting in the hours, perfecting my craft, and staying locked in on the vision. And now, here we are. But this is just the beginning.

If there’s one thing I want to say—it’s KEEP GOING. No matter the setbacks, no matter how long it takes, your moment will come. Stay consistent, stay ready, and trust the process.

Man, I don’t usually write posts like this, but today I have to speak about someone who’s had a profound impact on my life. James Leach wasn’t just a mentor; he was family—a true friend, counselor, and big brother to me in the music industry.

Back in 2007, James signed me to SESAC, and I’ll never forget how that happened. He and Hank Shocklee were doing a panel, giving feedback to about 20 artists. After critiquing each one, they said they’d play just one more song. That’s when they played mine. James stood up and asked, “Who did this?” He said everything they had been advising on for the other songs was already done in mine, and by the next morning, I was signed to SESAC.

From that day on, James was there for me in every situation. He helped me navigate dumb contracts I didn’t understand, was the voice of reason when I was about to head to China for work in the middle of the pandemic, and always had a way of showing me when I was wrong. Even recently, despite being sick and not telling me, he agreed to sit on the board of my company to help me move forward.

This one hurts, man. I didn’t know that call from what’s app would be the last call ever even with you telling me it’s not looking good, I didn’t wanna hear it. Saying I’ll miss you is an understatement, but I know God has you right where you’re meant to be now. Rest easy, big bro. Mentors and genuine friends like you are hard to find in this industry and in life. You’ll always be in my heart.
