MD7 using the Line input and its Send & Return/DI function with a simple VCA compressor in the signal chain. This was a quick test I did while testing the R52 rack we use to make years ago.

These Neve 1090’s use to be mine. Line input only; no mic-pre. I sold them to a someone I’ve known a long time and he wanted me to mod them to have a mic-pre from 20-60dB of gain. We added our own input transformer and set up the gain structure and wiring as if Neve did it back in 1974.

Our own vintage NEVE BCM10 is available for long term rental only in the Los Angeles area. Complete with power supply and snake. Comes with original Neve 1073 modules with added HF (so you’re not just stuck with 12kHz), 1272s, and 2080 passive telephone filter, and its original stand with casters. Fully functional and calibrated. It has two groups of 10x Mic inputs so you can compare two mic sources on each channel, 10x Line inputs, 10x direct channel outs, stereo groups 1&2, and Rev & Fokdback outputs for two additional outs. Also 2x direct inputs if you just want to use the 1272s as bus amps. I put a lot of work into this console and love to see it being put to good use. You must be established with references, and have proof of insurance.

1176 Blue Stripe rev B’s, and blackface 1176 rev D’s. One of the Blue Stripe units had an input mod with a 5534 IC chip and a changed out plastic input pot, probably to raise the input impedance. I yanked it all out, and a friend came through with an original input pot the same day (thank you Bob!) and Blue Stripe was working like it should doing its thing, kinda like when you have a torn 6”x9” speaker in a 70s Chevy Nova.
