What’s going on here?
Knowingly purchased a house with a 2-wire system. Opened up a receptacle to inspect it well after moving in and found that the ground screw is pigtailed to a backstab hole. My circuit tester indicates correct wiring. Can someone explain. Thank you.

I paid for a “professional sink install” and got this weird little plastic trombone solo under my vanity with a can of glue just sitting there like the plumber fled the scene mid confession. He told me this was a sleek modern setup, which is a fascinating way to describe a drain that looks like it was assembled from leftover parts and pure confidence. The off center bend, the stubby connection, the whole thing has the energy of “good enough, stupid” and now I get to live every day wondering if one aggressive hand wash is going to turn this cabinet into Splash Mountain.

Was swapping out my winter tires and noticed these tear-looking things between the treads on my all-season set. DOT code is 1117.
Anyone know what this might be or if it's something I should be worried about? 🙏

Can I just spray WD40 in this like once every other month to keep this lubricated and clean? 🤔💬

Normal house settling or serious structural concern?
We have a 1-story brick house on a concrete slab built in the 1950s in OH. We have multiple door frames with concerning cracks above them and the doors don't close well. The first 2 photos are of the same frame taken from both sides (the first picture crack has a thickness of less than 1/8"). This door does not close at all. The third picture is above another door frame that is sticking but still closes, and we have one other frame that is displaying a similar crack.
We're concerned that it is structural or having to do with the foundation. Is this normal or should we be worried and start calling someone to look at it?

Well… this is a fun one
Box landed right on the trim and now there’s literally nowhere for the switch cover to sit.
Moving the box isn’t happening… so now I’m stuck choosing my battle—do I hack up the cover plate to make it fit…or start cutting/routing the trim to make it look right?
Feels like no matter what, something’s getting sacrificed here

Should I be worried?Maintenance was just here and replaced the outlet. He said nothing was bur*ned or even dam*aged in any way and he did not see a wire that would have been glowing which is what he expected from the photo. He said the downstairs neighbors who moved out have had a bad roach problem and he replaced it in case their bugs started eating my wires.

Last night I unplugged a ring light to move it to a different room and noticed this orange glow. Of course I instantly think it’s burning, but no smell. I took this to send to a friend to see what he thought. While talking to him I pressed the place to see if it was warm and it seems to have stopped instantly. Now I am wondering if it is an internal light to indicate an issue or something else.
I live in an apartment. I discovered I don’t have a fire extinguisher, so I am going to pick one ip today, but I HAVE TOLD THE APARTMENT MANAGEMENT AND THEY ARE COMING OUT

I need an honest opinion because I am spiraling. We paid an absolute fortune for these gorgeous, exposed custom wood beams. Tell me why the drywall crew treated the ceiling between them like a chaotic scrap-booking project?? It looks like an optical illusion designed to give me a migraine. I am terrified they got wet mud all over the raw timber, and now the entire focal point of my living room looks like a chaotic, checkerboard nightmare. Can this even be saved, or is the texture going to look like a bumpy disaster forever? I want to cry.

Cracks already forming in footing
This is a newly placed site in my neighborhood, and I’m currently in a concrete class for my degree and I’d love takes on while this recently placed footing already has cracks and what appears to be damage?
This was placed within the last month or so, so while it has become colder here, it seems like this could be an issue for I believe will be a low income multi family dwelling.
Thanks in advance, and correct me if I stated anything incorrect!

EXPLAIN TO ME why contractors think they can treat our homes like literal garbage dumps. I walked into my basement after the crew left for the weekend and almost had a stroke. No drop cloths. No sweeping. Just a solid inch of pure, toxic drywall dust ground into the floors with a giant pile of jagged trash left right in the middle of the room. It looks like a bomb went off in a chalk factory! That fine dust is already getting sucked into my HVAC system and covering my kitchen upstairs. Is it really that hard to put down a $5 tarp or run a Shop-Vac before you clock out?? Am I overreacting for wanting to fire them over this absolute disrespect?!?
