How long do you think it takes to make a hit? A couple days? A couple years? A lifetime? We will never know if we never give it a shot. Just like sports, music and recording takes practice. Writing songs and finding beats takes practice. It doesn't happen over night. A great song most likely had a ton of other great songs that werent as "great." Keep working and pushing for greatness. Great things come to those willing to be persistent and patient. Great things come to those who go after their goals and dreams. If your off work right now, are you putting time into yourself?
