Produced in May 2021, Fish Don't Melt is a theater soundtrack album scored by Russian-American composer Oleg Smirnov and commissioned by the New Theater, a prominent theater group based in the city of Voronezh, Russia. The play is based on the novel by Belgian children writer Jef Aerts and is rooted in the rich tradition of the Russian theater. It was premiered in the summer of 2021

Dear friends, we want to share the result of quite a vast project we were working on throughout this spring and summer that put together 23 musicians from USA, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Israel, and even Australia to record and produce compositions of a dear friend of mine and fantastic pianist Sergey Chipenko. The album name is KINDNESS that pretty much reflects Sergey as a person and it's now running in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category for the Grammy Awards. Our album AMRITA with Kamini Natarajan is running in the Best New Age Album category for Grammy Awards®. As a composer, music producer, and a human being who traveled the east extensively, I feel particularly connected to the ancient Himalayan spiritual traditions, so working on AMRITA with authentic Indian kirtan singer was a very dear and soulful path to take. The album comprises compositions that are very different. Even though the base may seem electronic, there is plenty of unique acoustic instrument recorded. The strings were recorded in Brazil, the percussion in Los Angeles, and even as far as Moscow. I hope you enjoy this album! Premiered in 2012 "Son Cherished Most" concludes the three years of artistic collaboration of two musicians, a historian of religion, and a visual artist. This multi-media project brings together music, visuals, documentary film, and cross-cultural philosophical quotes, all unified by a single concept of transcendence as an ultimate challenge set in front of every human regardless of race, religion, gender, nationality, etc.

Rearranging and reorchestrating classical music for contemporary stage is probably one of our most enjoyable projects. This recently commissioned work of IDIOM features reenvisioned Johannes Brahms's masterpiece with a masterful piano solo by Sergey Chipenko. It was arranged, orchestrated and produced by Oleg Smirnov for a young Russian vocalist Nika Wann and was performed at a contemporary music festival in Amsterdam, Netherlands this September. Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed producing it!
