May 6, 2026, tragedy broke out at the Old West End Festival on Robinwood Ave near the food trucks in front of the arboretum.
Gunshots were fired injuring at least 12 people, shutting down the festival and leaving the neighborhood shook.
The Contaminator was a block away from the shootings resting on a friends porch, she was planning to be in that area, but luckily the decision to rest allowed her to duck for cover unharmed.
Many emotions stirred the night of, a trail of uncertainty was in the air even though the major storm has passed.
The Contaminator sat there with her art with an unshakeable pull to just walk around a block then finishing something, not sure exactly what at , which is the tip-end of the historical Old West End.
Being born in Toledo Ohio, and involved in the arts seen in and out between worldly travels for at least a decade, she has made many dear friends in a neighborhood that always waves, the air is crisp, artists are welcome as it attracts a certain type of soul to live within its habitat.
With 4 Horus of sleep, no warm up or practice, she wasn’t expecting much, she just wanted to spread some color on the street walking about, and in some sort of dance. People smiled as she passed, and that’s all she really wanted.
As she danced her own wings weighed her down, Wings that represent the feelings of doubt, the heavyness of the even fear and more at a place many went to be free.
She shedded that layer as she continued to move, lightening her load by herself. Her bare feet burned on the hot brick each step she took, a risk she was willing to take to be a part of something.
When she was ready, she picked up her wings and brought that color back into her life on her own terms like most of the neighborhood did Sunday continuing to drive around, have a few sales, be around each other, have brunches pool parties and more like they do . Here, it’s all about
