As we close out our Women's History Month celebration, we'd like to shine a light on a someone who's been helping The Ford stay green and gorgeous!

Nicole Calhoun, founder of Artemisia Nursery (.nursery), is one of the lead helping hands of the Kawenga Pass Project—one of our Community Residency partnerships with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps and SAMO Youth.

This project provides young adults interested in environmental careers and conservation with hands-on training related to landscaping with native plants and other horticulture best practices.

Thanks to her leadership and partnership, we're continuing to be responsible environmental stewards and encouraging the next generation to do the same! Swipe to see Nicole and the Kawenga Pass Project participants in action and on the grounds at The Ford. 🌱

Today we’re continuing our Women’s History Month celebration with a spotlight on the next generation of photographers and storytellers.

Each season at The Ford, we invite teenage girls and gender expansive youth to participate in Emerging Concert Photographers, a Community Residencies partnership with LFP CEO (Las Fotos Project’s Creative Entrepreneurship Opportunities) that provides young creatives with hands-on experiences to expand their professional skills and photography portfolios.

Through mentorship, empowerment, and community, these young photographers are gaining the confidence to help shape the future of visual storytelling!

Swipe to see some of the great shots our LFP CEO photographers captured at recent events at The Ford.

The Ford has long been a home for artists whose minds and bodies tell incredible stories. In honor of Black History Month, we're looking back at some of the outstanding Black dancers and choreographers who’ve helped our venue endure as a space of rhythm, freedom, and expression.

From the legendary Lula Washington Dance Theatre - Company and Bill T. Jones to the tap-dancing Syncopated Ladies and flexing pioneer Drew Dollaz, these artists keep us in motion by linking lineage with innovation. Swipe to see a few more of our favorites!

This summer, social practice artist Yemi Seyi took part in the Black Image Center and Las Fotos Project Creative Career Center's community residency at The Ford.

Following along with the East LA Chicano band, Las Cafeteras, Seyi took us behind the scenes of the group's multimedia, Day of the Dead-inspired concert "Hasta La Muerte."

"If I Awaken in Los Angeles," an event produced in partnership with Get Lit – Words Ignite, brought together poets, musicians, artists, and more for a night of history, reflection, and community.

Evelina Gabrielle Perez, a photographer with Las Fotos Project and the Black Image Center's community residency at The Ford, captured the stories of five poets to share a more personal, inside look at LA's distinct neighborhoods.
