Damaged outdoor unit for mini split
Need some help in figuring out what to do and if the HVAC advice I got is correct.

Recently got the house painted and during that process the painters damaged the outdoor unit for the mini split (Zokop 12K BTU mini split AC). They painted the filter screen blue and damaged the unit from the side (see pictures). We got it evaluated from a local HVAC repair company and they say the whole thing needs to be replaced. Approx. cost $400 - $500.

Now I know nothing about these things and I am very lost on what to do. Should I get another quote/estimate? Is the estimate correct? Any advice would be appreciated.

Note: These painters were extremely incompetent and have already delt with them and that is a story for a different time

This is where the hvac guys left the return, I didn’t think much of it at the time but now that I got the register in the joist is a lot more visible than I was expecting which sounds silly because obviously registers are see through 😂, is there a way to cover that up without restricting flow or is this normal.

How bad is this?
I’m trying to do some recon for my boss who is unable to get on up the roof. Our facility had a new roof installed back in December. Part of that process also entailed moving the RTU’s on to these custom metal frames in order to get them off the roof deck. Our HVAC guy pumped the units down and cut the line sets as shown here. This unit still hasn’t been placed back online and the line set is still open to the atmosphere. Seems like this could allow all kinds of contaminates in to the system. It’s bad enough that he has yet to complete this project and luckily the weather has been mostly mild, but would I be right to encourage my boss to make a big deal about this as well? I know it’s an old unit, but we’re a nonprofit organization and this unit was working and not slated to be replaced until it was absolutely necessary.

Wife painted over the outlets with a roller brush and the plugs are filled with paint. Is this a major issue now?
My wife and her mom decided that having white outlets would ruin the aesthetic of the newly painted room, so they decided to paint over them with a roller brush while I was at work.

Fortunately, I just replaced every outlet in the house to tamper resistant outlets so the live sockets have a little backing to them and didn’t fill up with paint. The grounding sockets on the other hand… half of them are filled completely up with paint and the other half are at least lined with paint on the interior. I turned off the breakers and tried pulling as much paint out of the sockets as possible, but I can’t do much about the grounding sockets having a coating on the inside. I tested the outlets with a three-prong extension cord and power flows alright.

I’m savvy enough to replace the outlets just fine but am not an electrician by any means who can tell if this is safe. Can anyone tell me if the outlets are ruined now and pose a fire hazard?

Dude in front of me randomly SLAMS on his brakes for NO reason…and now the whole front end of my vehicle is RUINED.

Like that logic makes zero sense to me.

My neighbor had this fence put in yesterday and something felt off…

So I measured it this morning — turns out it’s about 7 inches inside my property.

When I brought it up, he literally said:
“7 inches is basically nothing, it’s not a big deal.”

Now I’m stuck here wondering…

Am I being petty for caring about a few inches,
or is this the kind of thing that turns into a bigger problem later?

Our group recently dined together and incurred a total bill of approximately $500, for which we left a $40 gratuity. We felt this was a reasonable contribution and were pleased to provide it; however, the server’s response was unexpectedly negative. She indicated that she had anticipated a tip closer to $120. When we requested to speak with a manager, the comment was later described as a joke, although it did not appear to be delivered in a lighthearted manner.
This interaction raised some concerns for us. I would appreciate objective input—does a $40 tip on a $500 bill fall outside customary expectations, or would a $120 gratuity be considered excessive in this context?

I think I just got overcharged but I can’t prove it…
I stopped at this gas station around 12:08 AM because I wanted something quick before heading home.
It was one of those quiet places where the cashier barely looks up.
I grabbed a bottled soda, a bag of chips, and one of those prepackaged sandwiches from the fridge.
Nothing crazy.
When I paid, the total seemed a little high but I didn’t question it right away.
I just tapped my card and left.
But when I got to my car, I checked the receipt.
That’s when I noticed something weird.
The sandwich was listed twice.
But I only grabbed one.
Then I looked closer and saw the soda price was higher than what was on the shelf.
And somehow the tax looked off too.
I went back inside and asked the cashier.
He didn’t even look at the shelf or the sandwich.
He just said, “That’s what the system says.”
Didn’t offer to fix it. Didn’t even seem surprised.
Now I’m wondering if I should’ve pushed harder or if I’m just overthinking it.
Would you have gone back and argued it or just let it go?
