This weekend is a milestone in using a New Technique to advance my workflow. The key is its a HUGE time saver with regards to refining a characters edge with Fly aways and staying Modular. Clients these days ask alot of Retouchers and Finishers and I feel take it for granted what needs to be done to fulfill the brief. Modular files are one of them. Just recently a client provided a previous FINISH (approved ART) to breakout into a Massive 78k wide document, thats 96gb saved !!!!!. The character was composited in a very loose workflow that didnt allow the character to be moved onto the background without showing edge issues and contamination. This required the figure to be remasked. But the rub was keeping the look, feel and edging consistent. Normally this workflow is time consuming that requires remasking and illustrating the hair and edges. Now back to the MILESTONE event... I used AI in this new workflow, and although it wasnt perfect, it was an AHHHH HAHHHHH...... WOW moment. I get very excited when I try something new after 35yrs and get a result that redefines a workflow and raises my standards. Here is an example of a part of the edge that needed attention.

Gifs can still be impactful. Although I thought of using AI to generate this image, I knew it could be accomplished with some old school techniques. Had fun in the process and had total control of its outcome. Animating doesnt always have to be fluid and this illustrates that.

Didn't think It could happen given Ive been pushing the limit for years on file size. When you work on files this large, you really need a solid workflow. ITS EVERYTHING !!!! You need to think outside the box here or you will lose your hair and drink far too much coffee stressing out over missing your deadline or losing patience.

I greatly appreciate the concept and its implementation. Yet, upon reviewing it, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something is not quite right. It could be a deliberate design choice to keep it straightforward, but my discerning eye led me to take a closer look. Can anyone else pinpoint the part that appears out of place?

Here is the Webinar that was run recently by Benjamin Benichou and Masters of AI.. Its worth a watch if you have any interest in AI workflows. Its not short, so hopefully your ADD will not kick in. I did for me, but Im engaged and interested enough to revisit it if I feel Ive missed something.

Now here is an interesting company that advertises to connect retouchers and bridge the gap with photographers and creatives. It appears they create contests where artists work on the same image in competition.. Could be a way for them to get work done for free under the guise of marketing.. only time willl tell.

The competition unfolds in six phases, launching region by region — so each country has its own spotlight before joining the global showcase.

Here lies a moral or ethical decision. Ive embraced AI for awhile for work and personal work, but Ive always questioned the usage. At the very least its important to disclose the use of it for the viewers. To decieve someone, should not be part of the process or equation. This image came into my feed recently and my hair stood up on end. AI was used to fill in missing frames in a contact sheet of Robert Capa infamous frames from D-Day. A historic event that was not only heroic but unimaginable. You be the judge. But coming from a Photojournalist foundation, it feels a bit taboo to me.
