The Broad is a new contemporary art museum founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. The museum is designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler and offers free general admission. The museum is home to the more than 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is among the most prominent holdings of postwar and contemporary art worldwide. With its innovative “veil-and-vault” concept, the 120,000-square-foot, $140-million building features two floors of gallery space to showcase The Broad’s comprehensive collection and is the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library.

Tomorrow, Thursday, September 3, The Broad joins DTLA ArtNight () again as part of our free Thursday evenings, held weekly from 5pm to 8pm, with free access to Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind, including our collection galleries, now featuring new works freshly on view, from artists like Takashi Murakami, Kara Walker, and Cindy Sherman.

Be sure to check out our neighboring institutions across Grand Avenue, the Historic Core, and the Fashion District as they open their doors for a free night of art throughout Downtown, with many venues staying open until 10pm.

Can't make it tomorrow? No problem. DTLA ArtNight comes back the first Thursday of every month.

“Our Block, Our Stories” is here 🌴🐬☀️💿😊

Starting September 18, The Broad is bringing South L.A. students, grades 3 through 12, to collection artist Lauren Halsey’s (summaeverythang) sculpture garden sister dreamer, then to the museum, all in one free field trip. Students will explore the work through guided tours, discussions, and writing prompts that connect art to their own neighborhoods, communities, and experiences.
