Enbridge Line 6B ruptured in 2010 at 41 years old with more stable conditions than Line 5 in the turbulent Straits of Mackinaw.

Line 5 is currently 70 years old. It is 16 years older than Line 6B. It is imminently going to rupture.

The integrity of the weights and stresses on the line have been compromised due to environmental conditions especially due to invasive species encrusting the pipeline surface and excreting acidic waste to erode the pipeline.

The conundrum the State is in with Enbridge is that the Michigan Public Service Commission’s approval on Friday in issuing the permits is tantamount to admitting it is needed which acknowledges the danger the 70-year-old pipe line represents.
With this admission, Line 5 should be immediately shut down!
The tunnel is a red herring and distraction. By the time it is installed, a spill will happen.

Given the more severe and turbulent environment of the straights, it will be exponentially worse than the Kalamazoo spill and will likely decimate the Whitefish herd already threatened by invasive species and climate change. Our Anishinaabe centuries old way of life fishing Atik-ameg will be eradicated.

By the time the tunnel is built, Line 5 will be one year shy of twice as old as Line 6B when it ruptured.
Pump and Pray is not an effective plan!

If the tunnel is a foregone conclusion to cater to the labor special interests, then at least Line 5 should be immediately shut down. Playing a game of Russian Roulette with when (not if) Line 5 ruptures is not responsible. Further, I think it is immoral.
SHUT DOWN LINE 5 today!

New beginnings allow you to detach from the old order. You may want to close accounts, complete unfinished tasks, and gather your harvest. It is time to move on. If you cut the cords that have bound you to old ways and outdated conventions, you could free yourself to join the sweep of incoming light. This is not an excuse to reject others or hurt them in any way. It is simply a time to move toward your ultimate interests.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Miel Cossey.

Crystal Miel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Oh Becky…How it started…Um…It was an inside joke. We would call each other “Becky” when we fell on our shoe lace, made an obvious or silly statement, or wanted to pin that faulty action we just did on “Becky”. It was a term of endearment like um Becky, duh Becky, yea Becky, whatever Becky! hahaha It was born at burningman.

Then in January 2011, Samantha Ceora came to a small group of us, proclaiming the mission to start a troupe of girls. What should we call ourselves? A few names went through the thread and then alas, it dawned on us, “THE BECKYS”.

Samantha and Crystal teamed up to hit the ground running. Along the way, we have been blessed with so many multi-talented women who come together to produce events and brainstorm projects and performances. If you are attending a “Burning Man Theme” party, you better believe there is a Becky there – she may even be right next to you.

The Beckys – what should we know?

We simply DO as much as we can in every aspect of life.

Our range isn’t limited to just performance in the classic sense. Our activities move far beyond the stage. We have been passionate about encouraging civic responsibility and inspiring people everywhere to lead lives that are rewarding and fulfilling while taking care of our Earth and each other.

Our performance aspect employs a wide range of talents that can be incorporated into specific theatrical performances or a full show. Our history in event production supports our method of creating events PLUS all of its supporting elements: Theme, performance, operation, and decor. Where many performance troupes are presenting a timed performance, our flexibility allows us to go a step further and create temporal environments that are interactive. Becky stays in character whether she is performing on a stage or mingling with the audience. Becky is everywhere.

We foster a supportive and loving relationship with each other.
