Thanks again to all of you for bearing with us during our annual hotel reservations event (despite the Facebook-created issues many of you suffered through.) Just a reminder... if you did not get into the Marriott LAX, there are tons of hotels in the immediate vicinity, many within a 5 minute walk -- details on our website at www.gallifreyone.com -- but be sure to keep checking back via the reservations link as well.

As always, our hotel event marks the end of our regular convention business season and the start of our very much needed "summer break," four to five months for our team to set things aside, relax, and for many on our team, work on the forthcoming 84th World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon), LAcon V, here in Anaheim in late August; details about it are at www.lacon.org

That isn't to say we'll be completely quiet! We'll begin making guest announcements for 2027 later this spring/early summer (and like last time, we'll be doing them mostly individually rather than as blocks of guests!) Both our Art Show space reservations and topic solicitations for our 2027 discussion panel program will also happen during the summer.

And of course, we will be back with regular updates in the autumn, to kick things into gear for the penultimate Gallifrey One event; we're planning some great stuff for next year, including revisiting some of the "old favorites" as well as the new ones. We hope you all have a great summer; keep checking our website and social media, get your tickets if you haven't already (the earlier you buy, the better we are able to plan), and we'll see you next February for The Magnificent 37 of Gallifrey One.

An important update about today's hotel reservations event:

A brand new post with the direct hotel reservations link was indeed made at exactly 10:01am today (one minute after the hour, right after we were able to ensure that the link was live and working!) Just a few moments later -- due to the fact that we have people who do not read every instruction we provide -- we ALSO posted the reservations link as a comment on the previous post (the reminder from May 6). That reply was after the main post, and has been supplanted by a newer comment (around 10:26am) that encouraged everyone to keep trying.

It's obvious now that Facebook failed us today; some people see the reservations post just fine, and others do not. (Obviously the reservations post was seen by many of you, as it currently has well over a hundred replies itself.) To be clear, this has never been an issue here on Facebook, as our posts could always be seen immediately by everyone at once. We've used Facebook to post the reservations link for a decade for this reason exactly, because we can't rely on X/Bluesky to propagate on time, and a lot of traffic to our website could crash it.

We definitely understand the frustration from those of you who didn't get your hotel rooms, but directing that anger at Gallifrey One (or the Marriott LAX) is misplaced. We did EXACTLY what we said we would. We're sorry that Facebook failed many of you, but again, it's never happened like this before; it's always been a reliable tool, up to last year's hotel event. We don't know how to explain the issue, either, as some people can see it logged out of FB but not logged in. And this complicates hotel booking for our final show in 2028, now that the one platform we've relied upon is no longer reliable.

At any rate, we'd like to remind you of the following:

1. Keep checking back periodically throughout the day. Some people give up their rooms (such as those who have multiple people checking). Last year people got their rooms hours later. People were STILL getting their rooms over an hour and a half after the event itself, so it is important to keep checking back on the Marriott's link (in the comments below.) Also, if you really want to be in the Marriott, some regular-rate rooms are still available, and sometimes using a AAA discount.

2. There are many hotels within a five-minute walk from the Marriott; a list is on our website. We've always sold out most of the Marriott within moments, this year is no different, but there are great options (some even cheaper than the Marriott) practically next door.

3. At a (much) later date, we may have additional rooms available. We've done a lottery for the past two years for some rooms (around the end of January) and expect to do so again, when we know how many guests we're bringing and when the airlines release some of their unneeded room blocks for staff accommodation.

UPDATE: Most of the rooms at the hotel have now been booked, BUT, please keep checking back over the next several hours as rooms open up (including those who aren't claimed during the reservations process). As of 10:17am we see rooms on Thu/Fri/Sat nights still available!

As previously announced, today, April 30, is the final day to register for Gallifrey One 2027 at the introductory price points ($125 adult, $70 teen). Ticket sales for The Magnificent 37 of Gallifrey One, our upcoming 2027 Doctor Who convention, have officially begun!

Like last year, we're selling tickets on a sliding scale based upon your date of purchase... and we're happy to announce that we've begun with pricing that's currently lower than where we began our past several years, so now is a great time to register. (Of course, per California law, all ticket costs already include transaction fees.)

As we're a fully non-profit event -- where ticket proceeds fund the entire upcoming convention -- the earlier you register, the better we can plan, which means more guests can be announced earlier. We will begin announcing guests later this spring or early summer.

Since 2027 will be our penultimate event, we hope to see you with us for what we know will be a fabulous weekend all around.
