Here’s a hard truth:
Your friends are not your fans.
Neither is your family or co-workers.
Knowing this early on is important because you can’t count on these people to ALWAYS be there for your music.
You need them when you’re starting out; they’re the only ones who know you exist. You’ll have to galvanize that small community to fill venues, follow you on social, and listen to your early releases.
