Introducing the arts as a pathway to healing for the next generation is one of the greatest joys of my work.

This week, I had the privilege of facilitating two private SketchPoetic sessions with two sisters, ages 10 and 12.

The next four images capture the emotional journey of one of them. A quiet unfolding of what becomes possible when we meet ourselves with vulnerability, courage, and curiosity.

Marks take form. Messages arise.

A story unfolds, giving voice to the unseen.

The art becomes a reflection of what is ready to be witnessed.

Truth emerging through curiosity and wonder.

Each connection moves gently toward wholeness.

And in its wake, a state of awe remains.

A ritual honoring one of life’s most sacred thresholds. From the cutting of the cord to the creation of these driftwood totems, we transformed love, grief, remembrance, and transition into art.

A reminder that healing doesn’t ask us to let go of what we love, but to create new meaning from it. Because art has the power to hold what words cannot. 🤍
