Mike Brody (Dennis Quaid) and his blonde girlfriend Kay Morgan (Bess Armstrong) work at SeaWorld Orlando. Kay is a marine biologist and loves the ocean. Mike is an engineer, who should FEAR the ocean, but loves it enough to still work at a place called *SEAWORLD — DESPITE HIS FAMILY’S NOTORIOUSLY UNLUCKY HISTORY WITH MAN-EATING GREAT WHITE SHARKS!*

Anyway, Mike and Kay work for Calvin Bouchard (Louis Gossett Jr.), a badass park manager and businessman hoping to make a bundle when a great white shark somehow manages to get inside the sea gates of Calvin’s STATE-OF-THE-ART SEASIDE LAGOON.

The lagoon features, among other things, state-of-the-art underwater observation tunnels, a pair of likable dolphins, a sunken Spanish galleon, half-eaten bodies — OH, AND POSSIBLY TWO GREAT WHITES WITH VERY BAD ATTITUDES LURKING INSIDE IT!

Come see this very enjoyable entry in the franchise that made a generation of kids *WAY TOO SCARED TO SWIM IN THE POOL AFTER DARK WITHOUT THE LIGHTS ON!*

Sebastian Mathews bought CineFile Video in 2013, when the West LA shop was near closing. The shop puts its library past 60,000 pieces of physical media, and none of it streams.

For a director the case for a shelf like this is availability. Streaming catalogues rotate as licences expire and titles vanish. CineFile sorts its stock by hand, with written tags grouping films by studio, star, genre and label. It is not the only video store left in Los Angeles, as Vidiots and Videotheque also rent inside city limits.

WHAT ABOUT BOB? (1991) • Dir. Frank Oz

Dr. Leo Marvin (Richard Dreyfuss) is on a roll. Not only is he a successful New York psychologist, but his brand new self-help book, BABY STEPS, is poised to rocket to the top of the best-selling lists, which in turn, Leo hopes at least, will make him an overnight celebrity to boot.

Only, Dr. Marvin is in for a rude awakening, one that just might dash all his hopes and dreams, not to mention his very sanity.

Enter Bob Wiley (Bill Murray), an extremely high-maintenance neurotic who is so consumed by fear that he’s unable to function or perform the simplest tasks. Bob goes to see Leo seeking help, and Leo being Leo, agrees that he can… only AFTER his family’s summer vacation at Lake Winnipesaukee.

Well, Bob being Bob, is CERTAIN he can’t wait that long for help. To allay Bob’s fears, Leo gives him a copy of BABY STEPS — and sends him on his way… or so he thinks.

Will Bob wait patiently for Dr. Marvin to return from rest and relaxation?

Will he give Leo the time he needs to recharge and get his book out?

OR will he follow Leo to Lake Winnipesaukee to tell him how much that “innocent copy” of BABY STEPS has changed his life for the better — forever?

Larry (Andrew McCarthy) and Richard (Jonathan Silverman) inform their boss, insurance mogul Bernie Lomax (Terry Kiser), that they’ve recently uncovered multiple fraudulent payouts worth millions. Though he’s behind the fraud, Bernie commends the pair and asks them out to his Hampton beach hideaway for Labor Day weekend “fun” — a career opportunity that’s bound to be full of babes, beach blanket shenanigans, not to mention the perfect opportunity for Bernie to have Larry and Richard “offed.”

Too bad for Bernie, his mobbed-up partners have a very different plan in store, and Bernie’s time of having fun under the summer sun may be seriously numbered.

Oh, and for Larry and Richard? It just might be those same mobbed-up partners of Bernie who might just have plans for them too.
