Opening today, Frieze LA. Frieze Co-Founders Matthew Slotover (who plays a starring role in our founder Carolyn Dailey’s book “The Creative Entrepreneur”) and his Co-Founder Amanda Sharp founded Frieze in London in 2003.
Joined then by Frieze New York, Frieze LA opened in 2019 acknowledging what many - particularly Californians - know: LA is a major contemporary art hub.
The booth everyone is talking about: 303 Gallery’s solo presentation of works by Polish artist Alicja Kwade.
And like the other Friezes, it’s become a major cultural moment with parallel exhibitions across the city including:
The Getty, Hammer Museum, The Broad and MOCA
If we could go to only one exhibition outside of Frieze it would be The Goldwyn House, a 1916 mansion in the Hollywood Hills built by the famous Hollywood family. During Frieze, it turns into a unique design gallery, with the ability to see previously off-limits private spaces of the residence - a very special combination of contemporary design and Hollywood heritage.
Frieze LA runs until 1 March 2026. If you can go, lucky you!
