Found this from 2015. Apparently I’ve been asking the same questions for a long time. Talk is cheap and friends deep But she was such a real creep In this town I got to know Who is what and how to show everyone I’ve got it Why do I just have to try to prove I’m real I can play like you do I ca...

This lesson shows up constantly in music.

In breath before sound.
In rests.
In waiting one more beat instead of pushing.

Sometimes the most musical choice
is not to force the next note.

A reminder I come back to — in music and in life.

When Life Becomes the Art
Your life is the real performance.

Sometimes we think our life is about the art — the practice, the rehearsals, the auditions, the grind…the next thing we imagine will finally unlock the future we’ve been hoping would find us.

But life has a way of surprising us.

The detours.
The disappointments.
The years we wondered if we missed our chance.
The seasons where everyone else seemed to move forward while we stood still.

And somewhere in all of that, the negative talk of the left-brain — the part we thought we tamed — sneaks back in.
“You’re behind.”
“You’re late.”
“You missed it.”

But one day we realize something deeper:

It wasn’t the art that shaped our life.
It was our life that shaped the art.

The real symphony isn’t happening onstage.
It’s happening in the quiet, in the heartbreak, in the relentless choosing to get up again when no one sees it.

Somewhere along the way, without permission or applause, our life becomes the masterpiece.

Not the polished one.
The real one.

Maybe that’s what artistry truly is — letting the life we’ve lived become the music we play.
