🔥 The Andrés Vadín Trio is comprised of Grammy-winning percussionist Diego Álvarez, accomplished bassist Yosmel Montejo, and of course, internationally acclaimed guitarist and composer Andrés Vadín.

💃 They will be accompanied by Fountain Favorite dancer, LA CHIMI, Lakshmi Basile and Latin Grammy-nominated singer Pele de Los Reyes.

🧡 Earlier this week, Artistic Director Raymond O. Caldwell shared a letter about the ways he, as an artist, and we, as the Fountain, are honoring the legacy of Founding Co-Artistic Director Deborah Culver Lawlor, and the ways she passionately championed dance art forms from around the world.

🌍 Our new WORLD DANCE program celebrates this legacy. If you knew Deb, we hope you'll come commemorate this moment with us. If, like many of us on staff, and you didn't have the opportunity to meet her, come learn and celebrate. We promise: you'll feel her spirit!

✨ Meet the brilliantly talented artists bringing CURSED/CONSECRATED to the Fountain on June 20 & 21!

Sriradha Paul is a movement artist, Odissi dancer, and scholar currently pursuing a graduate student in the PhD program in Critical Dance Studies at University of California, Riverside. Her work explores the intersections of performance, storytelling, pedagogy, embodiment, memory, and cultural identity, with a particular focus on Odissi and contemporary experimental practices.

Sandani Sulochani is a renowned dancer and choreographer from Sri Lanka. She received both her Bachelors and Masters of Arts in Dance at the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka. Sandani also holds a National Diploma in Choreography from the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo and earned a certificate from the Chitrasena-Vajira School of Dance’s Teacher Training Program.

Waruna Hemachandra is a distinguished Sri Lankan percussionist, composer, and choreographer, renowned for his mastery of the traditional drums of the island.

Gunindu “Guni” Abeysekera is a Sri Lankan-American scholar and filmmaker. As a PhD candidate in Culture and Performance at the University of California, Los Angeles, his dissertation analyzes colonial and nationalist visual representations of Sri Lanka’s Kandyan dance.

This ensemble is rounded out with performances by Mihika Banerjee, Paloma Majumder, and Risakee Ambagahawatta.

Meet the incredible performers and creative team behind Cursed / Consecrated!

Come see this spectacular reimagining of South Asian myths that continually reshape and influence culture. Cursed/Consecrated boldly explores the legends of women cast as dangerous, excessive, and cursed through the dance traditions of Odissi from East India and Kandyan, Low-Country & Sabaragamuwa from Sri Lanka.
