I thought my fellow chicken people would enjoy this. My husband and I were driving to Walmart and as we passed by TSC I talked about wanting more chickens. He told me not right now and to wait until the panic buying goes down. As we pull in the Walmart parking lot passing the Walmart sign, I saw something big digging around in the mulch. It was a hen with 9 chicks. So of course I made him pull over so we could get them, and after 30 mins of chasing them around (also an emergency purchase of a cat carrier to put them in) we are without our groceries but I got more chickens like I asked for.
Edit to add because I see a few comments mentioning they might be someone's chickens. Our Walmart doesn't have any houses around for almost two miles and is right off a big 4 lane highway so they definitely didn't walk there. Unfortunately that Walmart is infamous for people dumping animals there of all sorts. People will dump dogs and cats or set animals in their cages on the backside of the parking lot. They were definitely dumped there sadly. Also we do have them separate from the rest of the clock for quarantine and also so the other chickens don't attack the babies.
