Happy !

Please meet: Teny Chaharbakhsh!

A former competitive figure skater, Teny lends her grace, technique, and strong work ethic to our dance arts collective. She is someone everyone looks up to, not only for her skill, but also for her compassion and encouragement!

Regarding 2020 in general, as well as how she kept her dance game up during lockdown, Teny states:

“For me, the beginning of the pandemic was a stark reminder of just how quickly life can change. Being a child of war and fleeing to the US as a refugee, I was used to not having much stability in life, but being thrust back into the resource insecurity and immediate threat to life was a sickening reminder of how personally destabilising the invisible unknown can become.

The year before shut-downs, I had been invited to join Cinetique Art Productions and had participated in their year-end show-case...I suffer from debilitating stage- and social-phobia, so was extremely reluctant to join any-thing that required performing. At the same time, my inherent shyness has prevented me from achieving much in life and this was a safe place to explore taking a step out of my comfort zone. Thankfully, I had nothing to be nervous about because Cinetique’s dancers are inherently kind, empathetic, and encouraging, and performing with them was an absolute privilege...
..Not only was having the ability to take (online) classes during the pandemic incredibly appreciated, but being able to communicate with Sarah and fellow dancers through this medium was sincerely lovely. One friend even donated her old barre so I could transition from my rolling office chair to a stable barre to practise with...If nothing else, the pandemic really highlighted how much relationships matter and that people will support one another however and whenever they can.”

We’re so honored to have you as part of the Cinétique Family, Teny!

Hey, hey, Everyone! It’s again and we are pleased to introduce a ‘truly’ inspirational and invaluable member of the Cinétique family. Someone who has been there since Day 1. Please meet: Sarah Truly !

A remarkably talented dance artist and singer, as well as a seasoned performer, Sarah‘s first solo with Cinétique was basically thrown at her over night when the original dancer fell ill! Sarah took to the challenge with grace, skill, and enthusiasm, and has continued to do so throughout the company’s four years in existence!

We asked Sarah to give us a little peek inside her experiences throughout quarantine, to which she replied:

“This past year+ has been incredibly challenging so I try hard to keep my eye on the silver linings... one really cool thing that happened was that my husband helped me create a ballet studio in our garage. We finished it the week before lockdown in March. Then my husband became interested in the online classes and started joining me twice a week! My 8yo son also became curious and joins occasionally for a bit of barre work.”

Sarah has a fulfilling career at Marvel Studios and has been a part of that exciting world for the past 15 years. She states, “While I LOVE my career, dance and the performing arts feeds my soul. I can’t imagine my life without dance in it. I’m so grateful to have found Cinétique and the opportunities I’ve had to perform with other artists has been such a gift. I didn’t think my young son would ever see his mama on stage dancing but he did! And that is something I will cherish forever.”

We love you, Sarah, and can’t wait to dance and collaborate with you again in the near future!

It’s again, and today, we are privileged to highlight a man of many talents, Mr. Paul Antico !

Paul is a bonafide Renaissance man, dancing through life with his many talents and skills. As a musician and filmmaker, Paul graced Cinétique Art Productions’ second stage show playing the Djembe in a ceremonial Winter Solstice song, and was Co-director on ‘Pour l’Amour de la Danse’, a mini documentary following a beautiful, passionate dancer in her twilight years. Later, Paul would serve as Director of Photography on Cinétique’s next film project, “Ignite”, a Druidic dance film emphasizing the relationship between man and nature.

When asked about what he would like to explore next in life, Paul admits he is a little less attracted to anything behind the scenes and would like to be more “a part of it all”. In further response to that, he wrote the following:

“All the un-danced dances imagined on empty stages during this pandemic have expanded my inner experience. Many sensations, exasperations, revelations, and mental mastications invigorated authenticity and understanding on the road to now is the time, now.

The walls fresh with repainted colors warmly glowing speak of transitions away from behind. The vo**ur behind the camera, ever so near to the action but not quite part of it is moving away. Away from behind. It’s time. This time, in time, my time, our time, now.”

Paul is also a healer, and a huge advocate for legalizing psychedelics as a form of medicine to treat people with trauma.

We love you, Paul, and can’t wait to see what life brings you next!

comes to you with our very first spotlight on the dynamic Lydia Caradine!

As the world slowly starts to reopen, Lydia, an accomplished Writer for Television and Film, as well as an actress, and Adult Ballet student, reflects on her time spent during the 2020 quarantine- more specifically- her relationship with dance.

Lydia states, "Virtual ballet has been one of the true joys of the pandemic! Studio A is such a strong community and having a way to stay committed to ballet - separate but together- was so comforting. I'm a natural introvert but I'm VERY MUCH looking forward to reuniting with my dance family. Ballet has always been an important part of my life, but my fellow dancers make it that much more special!"

We are very much looking forward to seeing Lydia, and everyone else, back in the studio soon!
