New News Regarding The Release of Historia

Over the past many months, The Historia team has relied on many of you to help us identify what will be needed to make Historia work seamlessly in most configurations of public, private, charter, and home school classrooms — a finely-tuned task to complete.

The feedback our team has received is very clear — that providing a great game-based framework to motivate the research is simply not enough, and that awesome curriculum content and the ability to create self-contained curriculum modules from the larger game play experience are vital features of a final product.

Given this valuable input, our plan is to take a little more time to get it right — and either source a great content partner, or generate the content ourselves — both of which will talk time. So, unfortunately, Historia won't be available in 2015, but we will update you as we continue to make progress on the project.

For those of you who may still be looking to introduce game-based units in your classrooms this fall, we invite you to learn more about some of our other learning games - like Right or Wrong!, The Easy Essay Game, ProWordNess - Social Studies Edition and ProWordNess - English Language Edition - in the newly-launched Histrionix Store on the Teachers Pay Teachers site.

There you will find detailed descriptions of these classroom-tested, curriculum-aligned, game-based resources produced by Histrionix Learning Company. And if you like what you see - please help spread the word.

That said - we thank you for your continued support of our work. It means more to us than you may know.

Game(s) on!

Great article in Edutopia by Historia co-creator Rick Brennan

Confession: Historia creator, Rick Brennan was a former history hater!

Check out Rick's talk at TEDxHouston. See how he and Jason Darnell set out to transform social studies education from tests and taking notes until your hand hurts into a chance for students to learn history through first hand experience.
