Rise Above Theatre Movement

Rise Above Theatre Movement was founded as KG Productions in June 2010 as an outlet and medium for actors and actresses who have a passion for Theatre Arts. In April 2011, the name was changed to reflect the challenges of an everyday actor’s life: the fight to RISE ABOVE it all, the numerous struggles and hurdles that each must face, in an industry where the standard is constantly changing. The new name also reflects the essence of what KG Productions founded—a movement of ambitious actors who consistently work together to entertain the community; further their passion and skill through the life of theatre; and ultimately change the presentation of Black Box theatre in Los Angeles. In June 2012, Rise Above Theatre went on a long hiatus as it reached some financial troubles, and the founder had some growing pains. Our founder, tried to create a different company, to leave the worries of RATMO behind, but was unsuccessful due to some personal conflicts of interest with former cast members, and repeat mistakes. "Rise Above 2.0" represents getting back to the basics: By the Actors, for the Actors. To live within the means while letting local artists due what they can.
