L. Ron Hubbard Winter Wonderland A Hollywood tradition since 1983 featuring a giant Christmas tree and wintry setting for the holidays The tradition began in 1983 when Scientology Founder L.

Ron Hubbard provided a 60-foot Christmas tree as a gift to the children of Hollywood. The tradition has continued ever since and the Winter Wonderland holiday village is constructed each year as a service to the community. Winter Wonderland opens on the Sunday after Thanksgiving and signals the start of the holidays in Hollywood. Made possible by the Friends of L. Ron Hubbard Foundation, the set attracts upwards of 40,000 Los Angeles residents and tourists each year.
