Women admire women who have power, but usually from a distance. Men would rather a woman helpless, so they can be the hero. But it takes some time to figure out how to surpass this point—biologically, intellectually, spiritually, for the self and the other. Add technology (avatar / gaming / code / dimension or place shifting) as another layer to deal with where we are all allegorical cartoons.

Often men get fumbled up on the hero’s journey and fall into the modernist trap. The authenticity starts to lose its grip.

In both cases, they would rather you helpless. Hence the eternal return. Most modernists fear, dismiss, or default into an area of projected categorical expectation. It’s a terribly short-sighted error in a failed system that feeds into a zero sum game. I refuse to participate in the war between men and women / women against women / color against color. It’s a pathological loss, even a position of war to perverse rather than tenderly embrace the greatest moments in life.

Holding the line steady on recovering the counterculture. It’s a Bay Area tradition.

I should express the weight of a kind of loss like Francisco and his shop Francisco Correa Cordero in greater detail. Art is a state of place where everyone belongs. Francisco upheld a spiritually deranged and rich area that was pre-market systemic in a cannablistic manner. This kind of liminal longing and acceptance of the depths of pain is unknown to corporate “house always wins” kinds of industrialized art spaces. He would go there with artists. Wherever “there” was. He nurtured artists and eco-systems and had an intuitive sense for fragility, desperation, and tragedy. It was real. It was not buffered with layers of pig lipstick or paid press that kept you at a transactional distance like fu***ng with l**e rather than actual fluids. He would sleep in the gallery. He would sit with artists in the darkest of places and draw them out of it. He could play the chords for them that let them sing. He could just feel it.

He was always looking back at me saying what do you think? I felt like a Mother to a host of lost boys always searching to meet themselves but the glare was so bright they had to keep moving another way. You did great, love, and you’ve saved many souls in this lifetime.

I met Jessica when I was a baby in the art world. She’s a true curator. She loves art and she loves artists. And she’s just beautiful.

We invited her to give a talk in San Francisco at the Agrawal’s, now President of SFMOMA’s board of trustees. Jens said she came home from India barefoot with her nose pierced and we all had a nice laugh.

Dia Art Foundation, under her care, was the first museum the gallery patroned when we made any money at all, for the sake of it. I scrambled couch pennies to attend the galas because I believed in her vision. Best news that she is helming the Tate.

Dear Nicolas, dear Eliot,

Sorry for my delay I have been on the move...

I love very much the romantic languages and thinking about Arendt, Benjamin and Tolstoy in reference. From angel to fog of war. I also love the idea of considering new world, old world, and old old world to expansively review the past to present. I was just at Heneage. It was interesting as they defined the logic of their three rooms as opening with contemporary, the middle I subtly read as British or general “Empire” and then “pre-Picasso” with some growing holdings of Chinese, African, and Global South. It’s a time to go so much deeper as the fog clears. What a great adventure ahead of us.

I was also at Dover Street Market and Blue Mountain School (Do either of you follow fashion...the new trend is gentlemen after JW Anderson’s yacht pedofile fail). The first floor at DS is now all “Comme de Garcon” and the upper floor traces Paul Harnden to Casey Casey new common bougeiouse wear. This goes further at BMS, the new kids high boutique has a mutation of the Champion sweatshirt defined by German street Abbney Park cool...Wolfgang Tillmans
