I’ve had extended conversations about this painting. Mainly because this painting is of a cornerstone on a wall. There’s a sticker containing a drawing of a Snorkeling Dali that’s been partially torn off on it.

What intrigues me the most about this painting is Dali’s intense stare. His piercing eyes meet yours and they hold you there. He’s looking at you looking back at him while he’s underwater and I’d say that’s pretty surreal.

Origin story.

The moniker Finding ish predates the beginning of my art journey. I chose the name to make light of a turbulent time in my life. I started painting as a form of therapy, and I dove head first. What started as therapy became a necessity, and soon turned passion.

As I grew and evolved with my work, so began my search for a name. I wanted an Identity, a purpose, and a voice. Nothing I found was the right fit, or felt like it was for me.

One day as I attended a gathering a friend came up to me and said, “it’s finding ish”.

I realized then what once started as a jest had come to represent my journey, my growth, and my evolution. Finding ish had become the artist.

FNDG -Reminds me to focus on my passion. To always do the necessary to actualize my vision. Every pursuit noble or otherwise requires discipline. Lastly, don’t forget to be grateful.

The journey continues.

“God Was a Woman by the name of Elodie” (2019).
Making the decision to conclude my Muse series was a tough one to make. A 3 year journey that began with this painting was one of growth, exploration, passion, and connection. As I close this chapter it feels a lot like saying good-bye to an era. But as with all things every ending marks a new beginning.
