He came home one night…
But this time, there was no one waiting for him.
The house was silent.
The lights were on, but the home no longer felt like home.
He looked at the chair where someone used to sit. Their jacket was still hanging there. A coffee cup was still sitting on the table, as if they might walk through the door at any moment.
But they never did.
He picked up his phone and started calling the numbers he had saved for years.
One by one, he realized there was no one left to call.
No mother.
No father.
No wife.
No children.
No friend who would answer and say, “I'm here.”
Just silence.
That night, he sat alone beneath the bedroom light, staring at an empty bed.
He had spent his whole life trying to be strong. But when everyone you love is gone, strength doesn't always mean standing tall.
Sometimes strength is simply finding enough courage to breathe through another night.
He looked toward the sky and whispered:
“God… if anybody is listening, please don't let me be forgotten.”
He wasn't asking for money.
He wasn't asking for fame.
He wasn't asking for his old life back.
He only wanted someone to tell him:
“You are not alone.”
And for the first time in a long time, he began to wonder…
Maybe heaven had not forgotten him.
Maybe God was still walking beside him through the darkness.
Maybe losing everyone didn't mean his story was over.
Maybe…
