The magnet easel is a game changer in the studio. I really love being able to see everything I love being able to move everything around super easily, and I love, absolutely love being able to rearrange things really fast.

I am adding another one on the other side of the room, there’s actually a huge wall on the other side of the room that in hindsight, I probably should’ve had made the working wall, but it’s going to be just for thinking and imagining and kind of getting the next project going but on this side of the room where I have the current or the first magnet easel, I think I just wanna go up because more space and I can see the whole collection all at the same time.

I started to work in collections and I didn’t even realize I was doing it so seeing everything evolved and seeing the collections and creating the conversation between paintings has become super important to me as opposed to before where I was kind of just working on one painting at a time.

This portrait of Veronica is a repeat. I painted her 3 years ago and I kind of want to see how my skills have evolved. I can’t wait to show the comparison when this portrait is complete.

This one is for me, I’m going to put her in my “pretty” bathroom so she can judge others ahhahahah

This is one of those things where I love the usage of having everything on wheels in the studio so much because I like to rearrange everything.

I used to do that when I was a kid I used to literally clean the entire house and then move all the furniture around and I would find the best configuration for the whole room for literally the whole house.

My parents never really said anything about it. They just kind of came in and we were like oh so the couch is over there now and it was just how we lived life.

So it does not surprise me that I like some sort of modular system for organizing the studio. Even my wall easel is made for magnets so everything that’s being held up on the wall is a magnet so I can change it at Will anytime.

I highly suggest putting everything on wheels. If you even if you don’t think you need it on wheels, you need it on wheels

There have been three stages to this scarf. Just painting the folds, which was brain breaking. Painting the dots. Painting the suns. And now changing all of the dots to stars and shooting stars.

I have to say I like the evolution. Had no idea where it was going but I like where it landed.

I constantly come up with silly ideas for paintings and invariably those are the ideas that work. I don’t know what it is, but it’s like my brain is free to think of something that seems ridiculous and in the ridiculousness, there is a need to make it real.

I love that the little piece of reality alongside something that might be a little silly absolutely works.

Right now I’m playing with the idea of this pink and the blue and the little eyes as like a personality even though it’s completely inanimate.

I kind of like this way that I’m going in and collaging the information because it helps me to work on composition and it helps me to work on seeing.

Don’t get me wrong I can see it but there’s a different way that you’re looking when you are painting you’re looking for those slow transitions you’re looking for shadow you’re looking for shapes you’re looking for abstraction. There’s a lot of things that you learned from looking at an actual object that you kind of you can learn from painting from a reference, but it’s it’s so much more. It’s so much richer if you were looking at an actual object.

This is one of the reasons why every once in a while I do landscape and most of the time I do landscape from life because I go out into the world, and I am painting or drawing on location. Like if you want to learn how to mix color paint from life.

Sometimes I need a little reminder to get things done. It’s like cleaning the house for the holidays. It’s mostly there but you just need to do the little things that make it less weird lol
