As part of 1983’s ongoing commitment to supporting the independent arts, we developed, shot, and produced a high concept in-world trailer for Ava Pickett’s new play, BLOODSPORT: After Helen of Troy.

Set in modern day Essex, the play offers a fierce new take on the classic story of Helen of Troy. Filmed in a traditional London pub, our trailer imagines a moment before the play begins, before Helen leaves and war follows. Led by Ethan Moorhouse as the Messenger, the film stars Michelle Dockery as Helen and Laura Aikman as Cee, grounding the ancient myth in a familiar contemporary world and setting the stage for the tension, fractured loyalties, and emotional fallout to come.

In celebration of humanity and human touch, the defining theme of this year’s , 1983 partnered with the Academy to create a series of specially filmed, handcrafted intros for select nomination packages.

Designed as artful, tactile vignettes, each piece brings the audience closer to the unseen hands behind the work, offering a brief but intimate glimpse into the craft, care, and creativity that shape each category. Displayed both on stage and broadcast globally, the films serve as a quiet tribute to the artists at the heart of filmmaking.
