Appreciation post- Wood and Vine. Our venue. Back in late 2019, our producer Katy decided she needed to bring Proof to life. She spent the next couple months trampling around town on foot looking at a myriad of courtyards, coffee shop patios, book stores, and parks. Some spots were more inspiring than others. None were very enthusiastic about hosting a ragtag troupe of theater makers. One day in Jan 2020, at the end of a long failed search, she stumbled in exhausted, for a happy hour drink at this little hidden spot in the heart of Hollywood, . She sat at the bar, ordered a drink, and then peeked outside at the patio. Lightbulbs, steam on full blast, she had found her dream venue. The story of Proof came to life in the overwhelmingly loud but strangely intimate hideout. “It’s perfect,” she thought, “but way out of our league,” right?

Enter Wally. Manager of Wood and Vine, magic-enabler. After the marathon of sub-par venues that Katy approached, he was the first one that understood. He saw our vision, and committed to helping us bring it to life. Wally spoke about his love of the arts, and his desire to build his neighboring community up as a center for this sort of work. Then, you know, a pandemic. And after the worst of it, Wally was still around to help us make it happen (we were nervous!) We could not have found a better venue. Their food and drinks are seriously next level, AND they are avid supporters of the arts. We are grateful beyond words. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation to eat before the show. To be clear, this isn’t dinner theater; we aren’t allowing food during the actual show. But we firmly believe that a good meal and some live theater can offer transformation-level healing. And bonus, you’ll be supporting this Hollywood treasure.
