Troupe Vertigo creates work that is an eclectic and innovative mix of Circus-Dance-Theater redefining visual space with displays of mental and physical prowess. With a focus on ensemble creativity they create aerial and acrobatic stories woven seamlessly through theatrical choreography and staging. Whomever our audience, we invite them to embark on a poetic and visually enticing journey where expe
ctations bend and movement twists. The company regularly collaborates with symphonies creating both full length Cirque Ballets such as Swan Lake, Cinderella and Carmen and cabaret/variety themed concerts such as Cirque Carnaval, Cirque Goes Broadway among many others. Self-produced contemporary circus shows include Tableaux featuring a cast of all women, Nighthawks-A Cirque Noir and Tapestry-A Mosaic of Bodies in Motion. Los Angeles based Troupe Vertigo was founded in 2009 by wife and husband team Aloysia Gavre and Rex Camphuis where their combined talents deliver an impressive vision of the circus arts to any stage. Both hail from the theatrical circus industry bringing over 30 years of combined circus show producing, working side-by-side, staging, directing, producing and choreographing together. They have been guest speakers on the topic of creating theatrical contemporary circus at TEDX, Directors Lab West and Center Theater Group among others. They additionally founded Cirque School in 2009 as a companion company to Troupe Vertigo which advocates circus training “for anybody with anybody.”
