When Basil Fawlty finds out that Lord Melbury is nothing more than a swindler and a thief, we see an exciting transformation in old Basil.
What begins a sinister smile quickyl escalates into full blown rage, whilst comedically attempting to keep things calm and under control.
John Cleese flip flops seamlessly from normal Basil to angry Basil in a very entertaining and crazy scene, making it a very memorable one.
And Basil gets a good kick in while he's down as well.

We really enjoyed watching this lovely couple together on Great Canal Journeys.
Prunella Scales, best known for her brilliant portrayal of Sybil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers, proved she’s just as wonderful off screen as she is on it. Alongside her husband Timothy West, they made each episode feel genuine and down-to-earth as they travelled the waterways of the UK and beyond.
There was something incredibly heart-warming about their travels—the gentle humour, shared memories, and quiet moments made it a joy to watch. It wasn’t just about the canals; it was about companionship, kindness, and taking life at a slower pace.
A truly special pair who gave us something timeless.

John Cleese and his daughter have made plans to bring back Basil Fawlty — and the concept is interesting.
The idea is to see Basil navigating the modern world, teaming up with a long-lost daughter to run a boutique hotel. Cleese will write and star in the new series alongside his real-life daughter, Camilla Cleese.
It was officially announced in 2023 with Castle Rock Entertainment behind it — but things have gone quiet since. That said, there’s been no word that it’s been cancelled, so it’s fair to assume something is still in the works.
Let’s hope we hear more soon…
