I’m currently moving through something(s) that simultaneously feels like a first experience and what I’ve always known I would approach. I’m already doing it as much as I’m actually not doing it. It’s my creative practice as much as it is my Work as much as it is my next chapter of learning, growing, expanding, releasing and healing.
I’ve been spending a lot of time both witnessing and thinking about. Every day, every night. But it’s no singular word, nor is it a succinct event. I’ve talked about parts of it (thank you, Close Ones) and parts of it have also been seen… but it’s going to take time that *I* didn’t think it “should”.
It’s liminal/transitional/portals/eye of a needle. It is what I’m seeking seeking me except I’m scared. It feels too good to be true; it seems way too simple. So I’m doing this dance of resisting and practicing; the same breath is inhaling anticipation and exhaling allowing. It feels like something I want to share here but also something so big it could never be fully held and honored in this version of interacting. Yet it’s also exactly part of the whole. This caption says everything I want to but probably reads as a lot of nothing for anyone else.
The one certainty that remains consistent throughout my weeks is that I’m going to continue to be here now.

Start 🔀 finish. ‘Core Value’ (2026), 24x24” in acrylic paint and ink on repurposed canvas.

Did you expect it to complete the way it did?
(I didn’t.)

‘Ready Is A Decision’ (2026) ink, market and pastel on 11 x 17” Stonehenge.

I recently burnt out again (full essay, ‘I Learned to Multitask My Burnout’ on my Substack), it also led me through some personal reincarnation. The fear, grief, resistance and worry about the releasing were still hard; all forms of death usually are.

In a couple recent conversations with my fellow artist friends who I really admire, I discovered I haven’t been alone in my process. As we get older- even though I had been intending the opposite- the stakes appear higher than they have been and it can be harder to Try. Trying new expansions in our making, Trying differently to what our previous audience-community was used to, Trying even though there is zero guarantee and confidence it will amount to anything. Thankfully, the deep calling is greater. It took time but I’m remembering again. And again. Here’s to walking my path with each step I take.

‘In Company’ (2025), in situ. Attention as the doorway, curiosity as the door handle.

More about this piece:

Acrylic paint, ink and graphite mediums on raw canvas 18” × 36”.

When we stop to consider the possible dimensions and degrees of being in relationship, we realize it is limitless. Context, meaning making and conscience collectively inform its realities while it may not stay the same from each given moment in time.
Two robed figures are partially visible during an inky, indigo plane with the soft blooming of an orchid: is this a fleeting exchange; a leisurely gathering; or a divine, celestial assembly? Or something else entirely?

🕯️ a case for being fully present even (especially) in the uncomfortable and unavailable. In case this reminds anyone else we are not alone though it can often feel like it.

Another essay not my most articulate, but honest and still curious. Read in full on my Substack, Ebbs & Flo. I love the deeper dives and diverse discourse on that platform; it has been a life-giving and lens-refining space in my renewing.

Cheers to our personal, perpetual seasons❣️
