Meet Eva Perlman, one of the strong, generous voices of our SURVIVORS Family, and a Child Holocaust Survivor whose story continues to teach us.
Eva was born in Berlin in 1932 to German Jewish parents. As N**i persecution closed in on Jewish professionals, a job offer carried the family to Paris — but when France fell to N**i occupation in 1940, they had to run again, this time to the mountain village of Autrans. There, Eva and her siblings lived under false names inside a Catholic boarding school, protected by owners who would later be honored as Righteous Among the Nations, while her father fought with the French Resistance and her mother spent sleepless nights standing guard. After the war ended, Eva’s life carried her through Israel, Switzerland, England, Uganda, and Canada before she finally settled in the United States. She later wrote a memoir, Eva’s Uncommon Life: Guided by Miracles, and has spent years teaching students through the March of the Living, the Museum of Tolerance, and Holocaust Museum LA.
Eva always has a seat at our performances, both for schools and the public, where she shares her story and encourages our audiences to choose hope over fear. We’re grateful she’s part of our journey.
