Grand Performances Celebrating 40 years of free performances in DTLA: music, dance, poetry & theater from around the world.

Grand Performances is non-profit organization that provides free access to the global performing arts. Our mission is to inspire community, celebrate diversity, and unite Los Angeles through music, dance, poetry, theater and more. All of our shows are free, outdoors, all ages and open to the public. Most of our events take place at California Plaza in the Grand Avenue Arts District of Downtown Los

Angeles, next to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), The Broad and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Founded in 1986, over the last 36 years Grand Performances has presented free live concerts featuring Stevie Wonder, Ozomatli, Kamasi Washington, Madame Gandhi, Ana Tijoux, Soulection, Aloe Blacc, Angelique Kidjo and countless others.

GP is hiring five (5) Production Interns as part of the first cohort of the Youth Workforce Program, made possible by the Snap Foundation. The program equips young people with the skills, confidence, and professional networks needed to thrive in the creative economy. Interns will participate in classroom and hands-on training; shadow audio, video, lighting, front of house, and stage management staff at GP summer season shows; and connect with Production Professionals to learn more about their pathways to careers in this field.

Qualifications:
Must be between 18 - 23 years old at the start of the program
Available to work evenings and weekends at performances during the 2026 Summer Season
Express an interest in a career in Production and/or Arts and Culture

Additional Program Notes:
Interns will complete 260 hours total, beginning on the week of June 15th
The Program will take place on Thursdays - Saturdays (2 Days of Instruction + 1 Mentor Shadowing Day), approximately 8 hours/day
Pay rate: $20.00/hour
Internships are Part-Time/Temporary positions

Brazilian singer-songwriter Rogê takes the stage at Grand Performances for a special one-night performance as part of the 2026 COLA Artist Fellowship series. 🇧🇷

On June 26, Rogê debuts Sebastiões, an unreleased project featuring original compositions performed live for the very first time. Inspired by the people, stories, and spirit of Rio de Janeiro, the work blends vivid storytelling with Rogê’s signature rhythms and soulful sound.

Cumbia legends kick off Grand Performances’ 40th season with a high-energy, multi-generational dance party. The band brings their Mexican-style, slowed-down, synth-heavy cumbia to Cal Plaza! With their cumbia sonidera style and the success of their hit “El Paso del Gigante,” they established themselves as one of the most important musical groups in Puebla. This success led them to tour extensively across Mexico, the United States, and Latin America.
