Imagine if simply having air touch your skin became an unbearable torture… and the only thing that gave you any relief was completely immersing your body in water.
This is the suffering experienced by 16-year-old Indian boy Iqbal Sheikh. According to reports about his condition, he spent years staying in ponds and marshes, sometimes remaining submerged in water for 4 to 7 days at a time because he experienced severe burning and pain throughout his body whenever he left the water and was exposed to air.
With his family unable to afford treatment and doctors initially unable to provide a clear diagnosis, some relatives and villagers believed that his condition might be caused by supernatural forces or possession by jinn. However, doctors suggested that it could be linked to a rare skin or neurological disorder, while his prolonged exposure to water had also caused visible changes and damage to the skin of his hands and feet.
What made his story even more remarkable was how widely it spread on social media. Eventually, an Indian businessman intervened, and Iqbal was transported by air ambulance from West Bengal to Mumbai, where he is currently receiving specialized medical care and undergoing tests to determine the real cause of his suffering and find the appropriate treatment.
Iqbal’s story makes us stop for a moment and appreciate a blessing we experience every day without thinking about it: waking up without pain, moving freely, breathing the air, touching water, and leaving our homes without being afraid of our own bodies.
We may think these things are ordinary, but for someone else, they can be priceless wishes.
Be grateful for the blessing of health, and for every blessing we have become so accustomed to that we sometimes forget to be thankful for it.

The Japanese photographer Masahisa Fukase began one of the strangest photographic experiments in the history of photography in the summer of 1973.
He wasn't searching for extraordinary landscapes or unusual people to photograph. Instead, every morning, he photographed his wife, Yoko Wanibe, as she left their home to go to work at an art gallery.
Fukase would stand behind the window of their fourth-floor apartment in a residential complex on the outskirts of Tokyo, watching her from above through a telephoto lens before taking her picture from a distance.
At first, it seemed like a private game between two lovers. Yoko would look up toward the window, smile at the camera, wave to her husband, and sometimes even stick out her tongue playfully.
But as the ritual continued morning after morning, something strange began to happen.
The photographer who wanted to capture intimate moments was unknowingly documenting the gradual deterioration of his own marriage, one photograph at a time.
Little by little, Yoko's smile disappeared. Her expressions became tired, irritated, and distant, as if the camera was no longer a playful gesture of affection but an eye constantly following her.
The series, titled “From the Window,” eventually became like a silent film showing the collapse of an entire marriage without a single word being spoken.
Fukase and Yoko divorced in 1976.
But the most painful part of the story came from what Yoko later said about their marriage:
“Throughout the ten years we lived together, he never looked at me except through the camera.”
She believed that the photographs he took of her were, in a way, photographs of himself.
Fukase eventually realized that his obsession with photography was not simply an artistic passion. Perhaps it had become a barrier separating him from the people closest to him.
Sometimes, a camera can capture a person perfectly… while the person holding it slowly stops seeing them.

Imagine a seven-year-old boy being torn away from his family and sold to an elderly goat herder, only to find himself years later completely alone in the mountains of Spain... with no home, no family, and no human calling his name.
This is the story of Marcos Rodríguez Pantoja, one of the most famous cases of what became known as “feral children.”
After the shepherd died, Marcos was left alone in the wilderness, facing what seemed like certain death from hunger. But according to his account, something extraordinary happened. He found shelter among wild animals, and he claimed that a female wolf fed him and allowed him to live near her pack.
Over the years, Marcos learned to search for food, imitate animal sounds, and communicate through the howls of wolves. Away from humans, he gradually forgot the language he once knew.
He lived this way for around 12 years, until Spanish Civil Guard officers found him in 1965. But returning to human society was not the happy ending everyone might expect. The modern world was strange and frightening to him. He had to relearn how to speak, walk like a human, eat with utensils, and understand money and society.
As the years passed, Marcos carried a painful longing for the mountains where he had spent his childhood. He believed that animals had never deceived or exploited him, while people had repeatedly taken advantage of his innocence.
His story leaves behind a haunting question: What happens when the world you once called home is taken away from you twice?
Marcos lost his childhood once when humans separated him from his family… and again when humans took him away from the only world he had learned to call home.

The Bottle That Returned from the Past After 24 Years

In April 2026, 10-year-old New Zealand boy Kaia Rend was walking along the beach with his mother after the area had been hit by powerful waves and strong storms caused by Cyclone Fiano. As he looked at objects washed ashore by the sea, he noticed something strange near the high-tide line; a heavy bottle covered in shells and sediment. At first, he thought it was just a piece of concrete, but when he got closer, he discovered that it was an old Jack Daniel's bottle.

But the real surprise was what was inside...

Kaia and his mother, Nisha Rend, found a handwritten note, its edges burned and tied with a string connected to the bottle's cap. Even more strangely, the message was not recent at all; its author began with the words, “Hello, my name is Jack,” and dated it February 17, 2002. That means an anonymous message had remained at sea for nearly 24 years before the waves washed it ashore in front of a child who had not even been born when it was written!

The message talked about fishing and asked whoever found it to contact its owner, as if Jack imagined that someone, somewhere, would read his words after a long journey across the ocean. But the sea had kept his secret well; the water had erased large portions of the paper, and the contact information and some of the most important lines had become faded and unreadable.

And so, after nearly a quarter of a century of drifting through the unknown, the bottle appeared once again... carrying a message from a man named Jack, but missing the very part that could reveal who he was, where he had been, and whom he wanted his message to reach. Perhaps the most astonishing part is that the sea returned the message, but it did not return the answer to the question Jack had left behind since 2002: Would he ever find the person he had written to?

The Gold That Came Out of an Old Wall

In just his first week of working a summer job at a construction site in Belgium, 18-year-old student Kobe Philips never expected his ordinary shift to turn into a moment that could change his life forever.

He was working with a team digging a trench to extend sewage pipes next to a 19th-century villa that had once been a brewery in a town northwest of Brussels.

But during the excavation, the workers struck something that was not supposed to be there. When they opened a hidden wall in an old basement, they found a chest filled with gold; inside were 49 gold bars and around 4,000 gold coins. Ironically, Kobe did not initially realize the scale of what they had found and thought that the neatly arranged pieces in front of him might simply be ordinary euro coins!

Moments later, the workers realized that what was in front of them was neither scrap metal nor ordinary coins, but a treasure estimated to be worth around $10.4 million. Instead of taking the gold home, they informed the property owner, who notified the police. After the treasure was documented and photographed under tight security, it was transferred to a heavily guarded government vault in Brussels, while authorities began investigating who had hidden the fortune inside the wall and how long it had been buried there.

Even more surprisingly, Kobe and his colleagues did not become rich at that moment.

Belgian law provides a waiting period of up to five years to search for the rightful owner or their descendants, and the family of the historic owners of the brewery may have the legal right to it. If no rightful owner comes forward during that period, the treasure may legally be divided between the property owner and the people who discovered it. The property itself is currently owned by a local nonprofit organization, whose president announced that if the money becomes the organization's property, it will be used to build housing for families in need.

As for Kobe, he is still waiting to see how the story ends, content to say that receiving a reward someday for finding the treasure would be “a nice reward”... after beginning his first week at work by digging the ground and ending it by discovering a fortune hidden for decades, or perhaps even longer.

Imagine being an abandoned baby left inside a cardboard box on a street in Pakistan, only to grow up years later and become one of the most recognizable personalities on Chinese social media.
This is the story of Fan Zhihe, a 20-year-old Chinese woman of Pakistani heritage.
In 2004, a Chinese couple working in Pakistan discovered the abandoned baby. Since they had no children of their own, they decided to adopt her and take her with them to China, where she grew up in Fanchuang Village in Henan Province.
The most surprising part was that, although her Pakistani heritage was clearly visible in her appearance, she grew up completely immersed in Chinese culture. She even became fluent in the local rural Henan dialect, surprising many people who later learned about her background.
Then, in 2023, everything changed.
A casual video of her eating noodles and speaking naturally in her local dialect spread rapidly online. Within a short time, the rural young woman became an internet sensation, gaining more than 1.8 million followers.
Since then, she has shared her everyday life in the countryside and has even helped local farmers sell their products through livestreaming.
Despite her fame, she never forgot the people who gave her a family and a new life. She considers her adoptive parents her real family and dreams of someday buying them a house as a way of repaying their kindness.
In September 2025, she entered another new chapter of her life when she announced her marriage to a Chinese man named Liu Xiaoshuai, who had been one of her early followers online. He eventually left his job to help her film content, manage her work, and support her family.
And so, a baby once found abandoned inside a cardboard box became a young woman known by millions—a life story that began with abandonment but eventually became a story of family, gratitude, and unexpected fame.

Imagine finding a lonely dog swimming in the open sea, amid waves and debris, after covering an unbelievable distance… only to discover that her presence there may have been the reason a man's life was saved!

In February 2020, Moreton Bay in Australia became the setting for an extraordinary survival story. A 63-year-old man was on a boat with his dog Heidi, a German Shepherd, when the boat broke down and began taking on water until it partially sank as evening approached. In the darkness, cold, and fear, the man disappeared from sight, while Heidi found herself in the open sea.

But what happened next was nothing short of a miracle.

Heidi continued battling the waves and swimming for a full 11 hours, until a fisherman found her the following morning, clinging to life among floating debris, including a fuel tank and a fishing tackle box. The fisherman rescued her and alerted the police, and her presence became the clue that revealed that her owner was still missing at sea.

Rescue teams began a large-scale search operation using boats and helicopters, and after 15 hours of enduring the water, they found the man clinging to his sunken boat. Amazingly, both survived without serious injuries. After she was rescued, the police rewarded Heidi with food and rest and gave her the title of “Honorary Police Dog” that day in recognition of her bravery and her role in drawing attention to her owner's location.

Sometimes salvation comes from where we least expect it, and at a moment when a person thinks that every door has closed, a small reason appears for them to hold on and keep fighting. Heidi's story reminds us that loyalty needs no language, and courage needs no human mind.

Perhaps the most beautiful lesson is that Allah may make a simple creature a means of saving a human life, for “Allah is over all things capable.” So do not lose hope when hardships become overwhelming; relief may come from a path you never imagined.

Russian player Amina Abakarova, 40, was not preparing to play an ordinary chess match on August 2, 2024. About 20 minutes before the match began, surveillance cameras captured a strange scene that had nothing to do with chess: Abakarova (pictured below) approached the table assigned to her opponent, Umayganat Osmanova, made sure no one was around, then moved closer to the chessboard and its pieces and wiped them with a toxic substance believed to contain mercury. Even more strangely, according to reports, the substance had been extracted from a thermometer, as if the match had briefly turned into the scene of an extremely bizarre crime, except that instead of a weapon or poison in a cup, the tool was a chessboard and its pieces.

Minutes after the match began, Osmanova (pictured above) began to feel that something was wrong. She experienced severe weakness, dizziness, and nausea, and had difficulty breathing, requiring medical attention and transportation to the hospital. What made the incident even more shocking was that the toxic substance had been placed on the objects the player touched during the game. While Osmanova was trying to understand what was happening to her body, the surveillance cameras had already recorded what had happened before the match. Later, the footage was revealed, showing the scene that changed the entire case: an opponent approaching the table before the match, moving toward the chessboard, and placing a dangerous substance on the equipment her opponent would use.

But the biggest surprise was the motive.

According to reports and investigations, Abakarova was not seeking to kill Osmanova, but said that her motive was personal hostility and a desire to remove her opponent from the tournament. The two players already knew each other, making the incident appear to be the result of a personal dispute that had terrifyingly crossed over from outside the chessboard and into the game itself. Abakarova confessed to what she had done, stating that she did not intend to kill her opponent, but wanted to prevent her from continuing in the competition. However, an attempt to eliminate a competitor from a tournament turned into a poisoning incident that caused widespread shock in the chess world.

After the incident came to light, the Russian Chess Federation temporarily suspended Abakarova and banned her from participating in tournaments, while a criminal investigation was opened against her. The frightening irony is that a game that is supposed to depend on intelligence, patience, and strategy turned in this case into something resembling a crime movie: an opponent did not try to defeat her rival with a checkmate move, but attempted to take her down before the match had even begun.

James Harrison was just a 14-year-old boy when he underwent a dangerous surgery to have one of his lungs removed in 1951, and his survival was far from guaranteed. But he survived thanks to 13 units of blood donated by strangers whose names he never knew.

While he was still a child, he realized that his life had become a gift from strangers, so he promised his father that when he turned 18, he would donate his blood to save others. And indeed, he began donating in 1954, despite his intense fear of needles, and continued doing so for more than six decades, eventually becoming known as “the man with the golden arm.”

But the surprise was that Harrison's blood was not ordinary.

His blood plasma contained rare antibodies known as Anti-D, which can be used to prevent a dangerous condition that affects some unborn babies due to an Rh incompatibility between the mother and fetus. From his plasma, doctors helped develop Anti-D injections that prevent the mother's immune system from attacking her baby's red blood cells, helping protect millions of children from serious complications that can include brain damage or death. Even more moving, his own daughter needed this injection during pregnancy, meaning that the man who had helped save millions of babies also helped protect his own grandchild.

Over more than 60 years, Harrison donated blood and plasma 1,173 times, donating plasma approximately every two weeks, until he had to stop in 2018 at the age of 81 due to age restrictions. It is estimated that his donations helped save the lives of around 2.4 million babies. He also held the world record for the most blood plasma donations and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in recognition of his generosity.

James Harrison passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 88, but he left behind an unforgettable lesson: sometimes a person does not need money or fame to change the world; a drop of blood, a promise kept, and a heart that never forgot that strangers once saved his life may be enough.

A mother of six decided to do something simple but deeply meaningful in 2020; she created a channel called “Mom, How Do I Do That?” to teach everyday skills that most people learn from their parents while growing up. She began by offering practical lessons on ordinary things, such as doing laundry, sewing buttons, cooking, and even the proper way to fold fitted sheets.

As the channel grew, the lessons expanded to include other things that may seem simple but can be confusing for someone who never had anyone to teach them, such as braiding hair, making a doctor's appointment, and carrying out many essential everyday tasks. The idea came from her experience as a mother and her desire to explain these skills step by step in an easy and straightforward way.

But what made the channel truly impactful was not the number of views, but the messages people began leaving in the comments. Some told her that they had lost their mothers, while others said they had grown up without someone to teach them these things, so they found in her videos something resembling the guidance they had been missing. And so, simple lessons about cooking, sewing, and doing laundry became a touching reminder that some skills we consider ordinary may be something another person never had anyone to teach them.
