AITA for asking my in-laws to pre-plan and pre-pay for their funerals?

My husband's parents live with us, in our home, rent-free. Until recently, my FIL's primary entertainment was using his SS income to go to the casino. Now, he's unable to go by himself, and my MIL has taken over his finances. She's concerned that he has too much money in his account to qualify for Medicaid, because it's been building up over the past few months. I suggested that she pay for their cell phone bill, or that she meet with our local funeral director and start planning for their funerals, because it would be considerate to us. My daughter told me that I was being mean. I told her that my own grandmother had done just that, and we enjoyed a lovely luncheon at a restaurant afterward with family.

But I did send my MIL a text with some funeral home pre-planning information. Is my daughter right? Was I a jerk for suggesting she spend money by pre-paying for her own funeral?

Paying rent in my fiancés home

I (37f) pay $1000 per month to my fiancé (39m) to live at the home he bought prior to me meeting him. I’ve lived here for 2 years, and since we have welcomed a baby girl (7months). He also has a 8 year old with his ex.

Since our daughter was born 7 months ago I have covered all costs for her. I also get the child care benefit for which is about $350 per month to me.

My parents furnished her nursery and my baby shower covered most of what we needed. He contributed a box of diapers, diaper bag and one car seat since she was born.

He is in school full time with no job at the moment. The military pays for his school completely as of next month however, so his finances are a little more stable.

I help with household cleaning, cooking and anything else daily. I also take care of our daughter full time as I’m on maternity leave.

Am I an a**shole for wanting a reduction in rent? I said I would be willing to give him $500 per month as I pay for our daughter and we split 50/50 on food. I also pay for a nanny a few times per week to give myself a break as he on average can only relieve me for 1-1.5 hours a day between school and caring for his daughter, which left me burnt out and exhausted being on 24/7.

He was extremely resistant to me asking and said it’s less than anyone would be paying for a place on their own. I told him I’m not a renter and contribute in other ways on top of being his fiancé, step mother and mother to his children.

24f. I started dating my BF "Matt" in November and unfortunately in May I became homeless. Matt lives with his sister and she invited me to come live with them. I moved in at the beginning of June. I have a 1.5 year old son. I work full time and I'm able to bring him with me (I work at a daycare).

Now.. there are some issues that have really struck me as weird since being here. It's like a severe control issue that Matt's sister has. Like.. I breastfeed my son still but only at night because I'm weening him. For the past 3 nights she has been telling me to stay downstairs and have Matt try getting my son to sleep without nursing. So she fully expects me to sit downstairs and listen to my son cry for me because "Matt needs to learn". Help I didn't ask for. If I say I don't want that kind of help, she's told me I'm a helicopter mom and that I need to stop because "he can't be on the tit forever". Or like.. after I had my son I was very overweight and had severe body image issues so I cut coffee, sugar, bread and pasta out of my diet. Well, she thinks I'm too skinny and it bothers her that I'm "afraid of having meat on my bones" because I'm 120ish lbs.

I came home from work and Matt had just left for his shift so he wasn't here. His sister made spaghetti for dinner, which I won't eat. She said something like "I'm going to teach you how real people eat" and tried blaming my mother for me "not liking" certain foods- despite me telling her I eat healthy on my own doing. She said she needed to fatten me up if I wanted to be a part of this family. She made me a plate after I said I didn't want any. The plate was heaping over. Easily a portion size for 5. AITAH for not being able to pay my SIL much for babysitting? And no longer helping her out?

I’m a newly single mom. I spent the past three months on unpaid maternity leave. I saved enough money to pay all my bills during those three months. In two weeks, I will be starting a new job (it pays more than my last job) and I just have to do training for 30 days then I get to work from home. So I just need someone to watch my baby for those 30 days that I will be working. My child’s father is a deadbeat and I’m still going through the process of child support but I don’t plan on getting it for another 6+ months. I have my own place, my car and I pay for all my expenses on my own.

My SIL at first said she would watch my baby for free since her and my brother didn’t attend my baby shower or get me a gift. Now she changed her mind and said give her what I can. I told her I can only give her a 100 a week and then I’ll pay her in fruits and milk (what I get free from wic) in a way to give her more. She would be watching him the first week for three days and the second week for 4 days and then some of my relatives said they’ll try and watch him when they’re off so she won’t have to watch him for a full 5 days the rest of the weeks. I let my SIL know and she seemed upset and said she needs to ask my brother and that she’ll call me back. She never called me back and is ignoring me now.. I’m assuming it’s a no.

I understand it’s low buts it’s all I can afford. AITAH for telling my parents that I don’t trust my brother anymore?

He recently talked about his plan to buy a pair of kittens. I was just listening to him go on and on about breeds before asking him “Why not adopt? You get to save their lives. Plus you save money on fixing them.” What he said next gave me a nightmare.

He said he plans to neuter the kittens at home by himself, despite not being a vet and not having any proper equipment. He only told me he was kidding when I told him that that’s horrible.

After that I stopped letting him come to my house since I have a cat and I don’t trust him around her anymore. He has made n__ty jokes before but I still don’t want to take any chances, cause he might actually have been serious and be a cruel p__ck for real. I just could never tell if he’s joking about something.

Like the time he said he was joking about betting $10,000 on McGregor beating Mayweather, but then he actually did it. And saying he wouldn’t lick the toilet seat for TikTok but when went on to do it anyways. I just always second guess him whenever he tells me he is joking.

My parents said that I should believe him since he said he was kidding but I told them that it’s a really gross thing to kid about. And then, after they pushed it for five more minutes, I said ‘Look, no matter what you say, I am never going to trust him again.’

Was so wrong to say that to them? Should I have kept it to myself?
