My 2 panels are SET!

On July 17th at , I’ll be moderating 2 panels.

“Indie Producing Styles” and

“Hollywood NOW” with a terrific line up of producers, directors and showrunners.

I’ve assembled talent across all parts of the business, starting with Andrea Smith (Producer and Writer), Ross Marian (Producer, Sales Agent at 13 Films), Josh Webber (Director and Producer at Webber Films), Dawn Church (Actress and Producer), David Bianchi (Emmy Nominated Producer, Actor, Director), Diondra Meravi (Producer and Production Manager), Yokeena Jamar (Producer, Media Executive) and Danny De Lillo (Producer, Board Chair of New Filmmakers LA).

Our first panel will be in the morning (exact times coming soon), and then another panel in the mid afternoon.

Directing and acting in a scene takes time.

But when you’re shooting on a tight schedule, you have to be able to execute usable takes in your first 1-3 tries.

So much has to go right to get “usable” takes. I didn’t have the luxury of time to watch back each take that we did.

But I had to trust that I knew what I was doing as a director, trust in the crew I hired, and trust that the actors I hired would be prepared and in the moment enough to move at the pace I needed them to move at.

I directed ~100 scenes for Odd Man Out: The Series.

Win, lose or draw—I got the job done.

As I begin to gear up for my NEXT FEATURE 🎬, in which I’ll be Directing, Writing, Producing and Acting in again, I’ll be posting additional clips and snippets of me in directing mode for other filmmakers to check out and learn from.

If you’re wondering if directing and acting in the same project will be too overwhelming, I’m not going to lie to you. It will be. But with financing in place and a crew of people around you that you trust, it could be the best experience of your life.

To all the folks I’ve met at panels and networking events looking for work, I remember you. I got you.

As I get closer to pre production, I’ll have more announcements so please reach out to me as I’ll be looking to assemble crews in Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas.

More often than not, I’m reminding myself now of the importance of “reinvention.”

Reinventing yourself. Finding ways to prosper and continue to be creative in the ever changing world of the film and tv business.

More often than not, people feel stuck in this business. Stuck where they currently are. Opportunities are coming less and less, and you often feel lost by never knowing what’s ahead.

Film finance is a space I did not see myself being in, particularly for other people’s projects. But it’s a space that has taught me A LOT and given me a new understanding of the film business.

In a way, it’s helped “reinvent” me, or a least, given me a wealth of knowledge and tremendous respect for other producers and showrunners.

To get any film financed is a miracle. But, with investor first approaches, solid business plans, and access to talent, I may be creating something to help you get over the hump.
