As UCLA’s first and only student run ballet company, we’re committed to creating an inclusive space where dancers of all backgrounds can express their love for ballet. However, we need to raise $6,000 to make our show happen! This money covers the costs of the venue, costumes, props, and other fees associated with putting on this large of a production!

Are you interested in choreographing a dance piece? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you! We are looking for choreographers for our spring show, Sleeping Beauty: Reimagined. No prior experience needed.

We are also letting choreographers pick their own music and allowing choreographing styles ranging from classical to neoclassical to contemporary/lyrical to modern and more! 🩰🎶

The following are plot points/themes you can choreograph pieces for:

Guest speaker Lindsey Farris and Present Making Social this Saturday November 1st 🎁🩰✨

Join us at Ackerman Patio this Saturday at 3:15pm for an inspiring talk with Lindsey Farris. Lindsey Farris is an UCLA alum, veteran dance educator, and advocate for arts access in LA! With 24 years in LAUSD and 20+ years in competitive dance leadership, Lindsey has empowered thousands of students to find confidence and community through movement. PIZZA WILL BE PROVIDED😍🍕

Then stick around for a Present-Making Social at 4PM on Janss Steps. We’ll create stage props for the Party Scene! Dancers are encouraged to bring their own boxes + wrapping paper 🎀

Ballet Company at UCLA’s EDI Committee is a group of dancers who are passionate about making ballet more accessible and welcoming to the UCLA community and beyond.

Last year, the committee proudly hosted free ballet classes for children and adults in the Westwood Branch Library and interviewed UCLA students about their knowledge and notions of ballet. This upcoming year, they would like to continue bridging the gap between ballet and the larger community by working toward the three EDI principles, which include equity, diversity, and inclusion. Their objective is to focus on one principle each quarter.

If you have a passion for education, advocacy, and connecting to the community through ballet, please consider joining the committee. All are welcome!

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
This application is not meant to be stressful or lengthy. We just want to hear about your story and your ideas for this committee’s growth.
