Hello, Haitian Bricolage Gallery Family,

We are excited to invite you to the closing exhibition of Haitian Magical Realism: Art of the Haitian Global South at Pasadena City College on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Jacquil Constant, curator, filmmaker, and Founder of the Haiti International Film Festival, will lead a special curator-led tour of the exhibition. We will also celebrate Haitian culture with delicious Haitian cuisine prepared by Mama Carmen, serving some of the best Haitian food in Los Angeles!

Event Schedule:
5:00–6:00 p.m. – Haitian Cuisine
6:00–9:00 p.m. – Curator-Led Exhibition Tour

Join us on the third floor of the Pasadena City College Library in the African-American Heritage Room and Terrace Room for an evening celebrating Haitian art, culture, history, and cuisine on the final day of this special exhibition.

A special thank you to Dean Raquel Torres-Retana and Outreach Librarian Danielle Rapue of the PCC Library for inviting me to curate this exhibition at Pasadena City College. This exhibition has been a transformative experience, providing PCC students and the greater college community with the opportunity to experience Haitian art from the Haitian Bricolage Gallery collection.

Rest in Power today. I love you with all my heart. Know that I am carrying forward your legacy of showcasing Haiti in a positive light. You did it through your amazing Haitian cuisine, dance, and business acumen. I do it through the Haiti International Film Festival, as a cinema professor, and as a filmmaker.

Hello, Haitian Bricolage Gallery Family,

It has been an amazing Caribbean Heritage Month! The founder of the Haitian Bricolage Gallery, Jacquil Constant, had the opportunity to attend incredible watch parties for Haiti's World Cup matches against Scotland, Brazil, and Morocco in Hollywood, Leimert Park, and Santa Monica. I was also interviewed by BBC Radio to discuss the importance of Haiti's participation in the World Cup.

A special thank you to Sonya Childress, Co-Founder of Color Congress, for proudly wearing the 10th Annual Haiti International Film Festival T-shirt at the Haiti vs. Brazil watch party in Leimert Park and for supporting HIFF as a nonprofit organization. Thank you as well to Sloan Baptiste for always representing Haiti with pride and dignity in beautiful Haitian regalia at the watch parties and HIFF events.

Thank you, Marie Kellier, for inviting HIFF to participate in the Los Angeles Carnival on the Shaw, where the founder proudly waved the Haitian flag. It was inspiring to see so many members of the Caribbean community celebrating their heritage by proudly displaying the flags of Haiti, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and many other nations. Experiencing this celebration in Leimert Park—the mecca for Black arts and culture in Los Angeles—made it even more meaningful.

HIFF is honored to serve on the LA28 Committee representing the Caribbean community in Los Angeles as we prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Thank you again, Marie Kellier, for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of this important initiative.

The founder of the Haaitian Bricoalge Gallery, Jacquil Constant, had an amazing experience celebrating Juneteenth: Unity Through the Arts in California. Thank you to Wileen Charles, Founder and CEO of Braintree Productions, and Ajima Cole, CEO of Queen Ajima Productions, along with their partners at Versatile Studios and BLT Studios, for producing such an incredible event.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Haitian Bricolage Gallery as a vendor at this historic celebration. It was the perfect opportunity to promote the 11th Annual Haiti International Film Festival, the Haitian Magical Realism Exhibition at Pasadena City College’s African-American Heritage Room, and the Haitian Bricolage Gallery.

A special thank-you to the new HIFF collectors who purchased Haitian art prints during the Juneteenth: Unity Through the Arts celebration, honoring the rich culture and artistic contributions of the African Diaspora in Hollywood, California.
