Re-watching the pilot of A Handmaid’s Tale before the excellent master class with two of the writers in the show. The nonlinear is so well executed. Perfect match for the story.

I felt privileged to be a part of this groundbreaking event. It certainly rings a memory of the Dartmouth AI conference in 1956. This and the Longevity Clinics event will be remembered and set up the tone for years to come.

Yesterday, when I arrived, I went to my rooftop, laid on the reclining chair, and looked up. Directly above, the moon drew the perfect mandala. Those types of psycho-physical encounters are becoming nearly impossible in big cities.

I started to read ‘The Science of Storytelling’ by Will Storr, and having studied neuroscience as part of my cognitive psychology degree at UCI, the title itself raised several red flags.

My intuition was right.

Although there are great things and references to be integrated into a holistic view of storytelling, he suffers from the attitude of the Western mind, and explicitly denies the fundamental commitment of the writer and artist to the deep psyche and to redeem the connection with soul, introspection, and the psychological point of view.

He often calls these by the concept created to baptize the self-inflicted wound of modernity, the “pathetic fallacy”, whereas personifying, imagination, the reality of the psyche (and I would add synchronistic events among others), are regressions to delusional, hallucinatory or illusory modes of adaptation.

As James Hillman would say “Just as modern science and metaphysics have banned the subjectivity of souls from the outer world of material events, psychology has denied the autonomy and diversity of souls to the inner world of psychological events. Intentions, behaviors, voices, feelings that I do not control with my will or cannot connect to with my reason are alien, negative, psychopathological.”

Will Storr places the ego and systems as front and center at the expense of the Tao, the logos of Heraclitus, and the nous of the cosmic mind, and limits the search space of the writer/artist to a very narrow subset that is exclusive of the rational mind.

He is wrong.

O espírito do mal é a negação da força vital pelo medo. Somente a ousadia pode nos livrar do medo. E se o risco não for assumido, o significado da vida será violado.

Adios Nonino, Part 3. Memory lane. The first time I tried to play it through. Tremendous piece. Thanks to Astor Piazzolla. Viva El Tango.

Say Hello to Master Astor Piazolla. One of my favorites, Adios Nonino.

This was the most emotionally potent movie ever. I had read the book, and now history repeats itself. Look at the horror stories happening in Madrid, London, and other European capitals. If you turn your screen to black and white, it looks like you went back 100 years.
