Great article in Shopping Design News from Taiwan.

“In order to let everyone more directly experience Nikki’s affection, the film studio also partnered with Proto Hologram to install a three-dimensional holographic advertising display in a shopping mall.

At first, passersby think they’re simply watching an ordinary movie trailer. But the person appearing in the hologram display is actually actress Inde Navarrette, who is connected live in real time. She can not only see the people standing in front of the display, but can also speak directly with them.

She starts by complimenting people’s clothing and asking whether she looks pretty. Then she gradually shifts into Nikki’s possessive and unsettling tone, sometimes suddenly screaming, giving people an unexpected and terrifying experience.”

Here’s a video of movie star Rob Lowe experiencing the newly patented for the first time, and he couldn’t resist grabbing his own phone to try it out.

In seconds, he was controlling and customizing a floating holographic watch on one of the hundreds of apps already built on top of the Proto Hologram software platform.

This is the future of how we’ll interact with technology. Holograms you can control, customize, and create in real time.

Our work with Cisco demonstrates what’s possible when conversational AI moves into physical retail environments. From helping shoppers locate products or answer questions about inventory, to checking out sports fans at concessions stands, the experience feels less like navigating software and more like talking with someone who understands the store.
The hologram itself captures attention, but it’s really just the interface.
The bigger story is that retailers are creating experiences that are more intuitive, more personalized, and more accessible because AI can understand context and respond naturally in real time. Good job Raffi Kryszek telling our story.

Last year at the Milken Conference, Mike Milken appeared as an AI hologram inside a Proto M tabletop unit while interviewing Elon Musk live on stage.

One person was physically there. The other wasn’t.
