Not every revision immediately aligns with my own taste.
But the record isn’t being made for me. When a note challenges my first instinct, my job is to stay curious and understand what the artist is actually reaching for.
Sometimes the literal request isn’t the whole message. They may be asking for more intimacy, tension, rawness, or identity.
That translation is a large part of mixing.
