AITA for telling my GF she’s not allowed to eat sugary snacks in our bed anymore?

Going to try and keep this to the point. My girlfriend is one of those people who loves curling up in bed and throwing a fluffy blanket over herself and watching tv.

She also eats a LOT of snacks in bed. Popcorn, sugary doughnuts, chips, chocolate, cookies, you name it she’ll snack in bed. She works from home so as soon as she’s done with work she’ll crawl into bed and kind of ‘nest’.

It’s been upsetting me majorly because she never dusts the bed down and there are ALWAYS. CRUMBS. On my side of the bed. It’s uncomfortable, gross, I dislike it, and I have asked her to stop multiple times. I was never raised to eat in bed so it’s weird for me. Each time she’s countered with ‘ok I’ll dust the bed down more thoroughly’ or ‘I’ll vacuum more often’ etc.
As a method of deflecting what I’m asking.

I work REALLY long shifts so whenever I come home I literally have a bite to eat and need to sleep. This kind of escalated last night because I came into bed and there were crumbs EVERYWHERE on my side. I pulled back my covers and there was sugary s__t all over my damn bed.

I ended up sleeping on the sofa because she was already asleep and I was too tired to dust everything down, and this morning I flat out told her that I no longer want her to eat in bed and it’s non negotiable. She thinks I’m being a mean controlling a__hole, I think I’m not!

AITA for telling my mum i’m putting her in a nursing home?

This happened around 3 hours ago, while me and my family were at my grandparents house for a sunday bbq.

things were going well, everyone was happy. then we moved on from the meat and onto the dessert. i asked for a slice of merangue cake, and sat down. i realised i forgot cream, and went back. my mum then started making comments about what i was eating and my weight.

“oh great, more calories.”
“you better calm down on that, don’t wanna ruin prom for you and everyone do you?”
“two dessert my name, right? save some for everyone else.”
“watch it, or we’ll have to roll you out of here”

those were all the things she said. she said it in front of everyone, around 6 people. i got mad, like super upset. at first i tried ignoring it, saying stuff like “bit rude” or “ok calm down.” but the more she kept saying s__t, the more mad i got.

i snapped and said “you know this is why i’m going to put you in a nursing home.” everyone went silent and i got yelled at. we went home early for embarrassing my mum. i don’t feel bad for what i said, but i do feel like an a__hole. AITA?

AITA for calling my daughter-in-law’s parents deadbeats and not stepping down in my place at her wedding?

When my son, “Josh”, was 16, he and his girlfriend, “Chloe”, told my wife and I that they were expecting a baby. We were reasonably concerned and upset, but supported the two in whatever they wanted to do. They decided they wanted to keep the baby.

Chloe’s parents were not supportive at all and kicked her out of the house. We had her move in with us. My wife and I developed a close bond with her as we helped her prepare for the baby. After the birth of their daughter, “Brynn”, Chloe and Josh lived with us until they were 22. As they were so young, we really helped a lot those first few years as they got their GEDs, went to trade school, etc. It was not an easy road in the slightest, but it made us all closer. I consider Chloe the daughter I never had. They are now 25 and Brynn is 9.

Last year, Chloe’s parents got in contact with her and said that they were sorry, they wanted to be in their lives, etc. Josh and Chloe chose to hesitantly let them in their daughter’s life. They have definitely played the part of overcompensating grandparents, who try to pretend no time has passed. Brynn is healthy, safe and loved, that’s all that matters. They have been stand-offish with my wife and I.

I feel they are jealous and maybe insecure when it comes to how close we are to Chloe and Brynn. We’ve tried to arrange for times to talk, outings where all 4 of us can be with Brynn, etc, they always rebuff. So, we’ve settled to be polite and kind, getting along with them for Brynn, Chloe and Josh’s benefit.

Chloe and Josh have recently announced they’re getting married. She asked me to walk her down the aisle. She explained that while her dad is too, she’d love to have “her other dad” with her. I was touched. She has called me “Papa Sam” for awhile now (and my wife, “Mama Carol”), but I still didn’t expect this. I...

AITA for putting a lien on my brother's house and refusing to remove it until he pays me?

I do house renovations as a business. Even when I do work for family and friends at a discount I have a contract.

My nephews are getting bigger and they want seperate rooms. My brother asked me to help him finish his basement, make a couple of rooms down there, add a washroom, add a kitchenette, and wire up a family room.

I priced it out and said I would charge him $32,000 including materials. This was a sizeable discount. The bathroom alone I would charge anyone else 15,000. His wasn't even roughed in.

He never paid me. He always had excuses. I paid for the material and I paid my guys for the work. We did it when I had downtime so I didn't lose out on other money but it still sucked to get shafted.

So I put a construction lien on the house. He didn't care and I wasn't going to make him homeless.

That was two years ago. Now he got a new job and has to move. And to get a new house he has to sell his current house. Which he can't do because their is a lien against the property.

He called me to get me to remove it. He promised he would pay me as soon as it sold. I told him "f__k you pay me".

My parents called me to tell me that they would pay what he owes. I said I would agree so long as he paid them back and if he didn't then any money he didn't pay back had to come out of any inheritance we were getting, god forbid. And that interest started accruing from the day of the "loan". They agreed that that was fair.

My brother called me to scream at me for involving my parents and out inheritance. I reminded him that he involved them not me.

He finally took money out from a line of credit and paid me. With interest. I'm a reasonable man.

The house sold over asking and the...

WIBTA if I approached my neighbours about their daughter watching me through her window?

So this has been happening ever since we moved in. The daughter is maybe 10-12 years old, not sure but around that age. I'll go out into my garden and their daughter will open her window and just stare at us when we're outside or she'll occasionally put her phone outside of the window and then hide behind the curtain.

This happens at least once or twice a week. Yesterday I caught her with her phone and asked her if she was filming, she said no but why would she put her phone out of the window and hide behind the curtain? I'd understand if you needed signal but I've never seen her do this before.

A friend has also said that they saw her filming us on her iPad before when they were in my garden and she also told the neighbour to stop. She apologised on that occasion but I think it's because she was caught red handed. I've also had to have a word with her about filming tik toks in their garden because she put the camera above the height of their fence and started filming when I was in the garden too.

I told her I didn't want to be filmed so could she please not film from there and she did move the camera. At first I just thought she might be lonely so I'd say hello and she'd say hi back. But it's gotten to the point where I feel uncomfortable in my garden.

WIBTA if I went over and complained to her parents and explained I'm not comfortable with being watched and or filmed? It's making me more uncomfortable now and I really don't want to be on some kids social media profiles- or generally just be filmed when I'm in my home. UPDATE: Thank you so much for the replies & suggestions.

It's definitely made me feel better about the situation, for now I'm not going to say anything to the neighbours- I think me saying something yesterday has been a deterrent. If I catch her...
