When I stand at the edge of the ocean, I love to watch the waves and listen. With Tide’s Song and Tide’s Refrain—a pair of 12” × 12” mixed-media paintings—I wanted to see if I could paint that sound: one piece holds the melody of the tide, while the other holds its recurring chorus. Both original works are now available at the gallery.

The days are shorter now and the leaves are changing to gold and orange. The colors of fall have been the subject of many of my paintings from trips to the Sierras and the local farms. This October I will be showing some of my favorites at Viewpoints Gallery.

“I have selected scenes from trips, particularly in Europe, that have captured my imagination and made me want to explore them further,” explains Jan. “From cozy sidewalk scenes in France or Italy that show charming vine-covered buildings, to a view of a town square with a magnificent church, each one is special to me.”
