Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler, Nathan Detroit, tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they've been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.

Los Altos Youth Theater is holding open auditions for ages 13-19 for Heathers, teen edition with book, music, and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy, based on the 1989 film of the same name written by Daniel Waters. Signup link in the comments.

Heathers The Musical: Teen Edition is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously handsome new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized butt... but J.D. has another plan for that bullet.

Performance dates: Friday through Sunday, Oct. 25 - Nov. 3
Audition dates: Saturday, August 23 from 10:00-2:00
Callbacks: Sunday, August 24 from 10:00-2:00
Where: Grant Park, 1575 Holt Ave, Los Altos
Rehearsals: Weekly, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-9:00, Sundays from 2:00-8:00. Tech rehearsals will be from 5:00-10:00.
Audition requirements: Please prepare a 1-2 minute song, preferably in the style of the show, as well as a 1-2 minute monologue.

Participation Fee: There is a participation fee of $650 in order to register for this production. Limited scholarships available based on need.
