Trumpeter Swans

This is what conservation success looks like. A species that was nearly nonexistent in the late 1800s made its comeback through restoration efforts and now nearly 50,000 visit Minnesota each years.

This juvenile and its family will stick together for the next year as the young swan learns how to survive before leaving to find a mate of its own. The yellowing on the adults heads and neck is something that is typically caused from minerals and tannins as it feeds underwater.

Wildlife and conservation has always captured my interest from a young age. Needing another creative outlet in life, I’m tapping into my love of nature and shooting some of my favorite species through a lens to enjoy.

Sometimes, scars keep us tethered to chapters we’re ready to close. They can carry memories of what we’ve lived through, but they do not define the person we are becoming.

When my client asked me to help transform the scars she no longer wanted to be reminded of, I felt honored to create something that could help her see her skin in a new light. I gifted her this floral scar cover-up, and I’m deeply grateful for the trust she placed in me with something so personal and vulnerable.

Creating something beautiful and meaningful, something that may help someone feel more at home in their own skin is one of the most heartfelt parts of this work.

As my business grows, I hope to offer this gift to more clients seeking scar cover-ups. I’m still thoughtfully considering what that will look like and I’ll share more details when I’m ready to open these opportunities to others.

SO proud of my client for getting this tattoo tonight!

It can be hard to trust someone you’ve never met to permanently mark your body. It can be hard to commit to the idea of having something on you forever. My goal is to never make you feel inconvenienced by this process. Thank you for your trust Shannon! 🤍
