My family has always been involved in the arts, whether singing in a choir, playing in a band, painting, needlecraft, or photography. My why for creating art is to express an appreciation for nature and its beauty whether in representational or abstract form. I care deeply about being a good steward of our resources, that is why I try to incorporate 'treasured trash' or found papers in my art whenever possible. So, my husband said it’s good. When he says that, I usually stop painting 😉. I photographed this scene when Mr. Pat and I vacationed in Alpine and toured all throughout Big Bend National Park and surrounding towns. This is the second painting in the series. I certainly enjoy painting this little red yucca in terracotta! My latest is a watercolor which hopefully captures the glow of the sun and warmth of the day. The second photo is an acrylic version, Light of Life, and finally the inspiration photo. I cannot lie…I was struggling to make this one happen. Pretty glad I stuck with it. This painting will be part of a group show at the Cultural Arts Center in Temple this fall. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!
